Show Euron's pretty good; he's like a discount Griffith - a once normal ruler turned insane from abuse who has unearthly charisma.

I hope they keep in Euron's plot about sacrificing priests to become a God. I don't care how high fantasy it is, the show needs something unexpected to tangle with the Night King plot.

Actually haven't read a single book by Sapkowski, that's why I refered to the game specifically. From what I understand, it uses the original story as background for missions and overarching plot but the overall tone is different, with some themes omitted and added respectivelly. What I meant by "grim" is that Witcher 3 works with the atmosphere of dread far better than Gurm does in the little room he devoted to White Walkers (that's only understandable, since video game relies on visuals a lot), but at the same time it communicates more complex themes like war ravaged lands or desperation of the smallfolk better than ASOIAF. That's quite an achievement for a product intended for 15 year olds with ADHD.

HBO adaptation when?

When it came out it was amazing. Demon's Souls was a good game as well. Like most things, imitators have diminished the original.

One of the major things it did was intentionally obfuscate the lore. All the NPCs are both insane and liars, or as in the dark as you are. You play the game totally ignorant of everything, but it's all there if you pay attention to detail. The monsters, setting, and item descriptions can be pieced together to reveal what happened and what people are doing.

In terms of grimdark, the world is losing all light and going into darkness, and you start of in a cell where cursed undead are sent to languish until they go insane. Another undead breaks you out but gets wounded and offs himself.

It's pretty much unfilmable due to how it uses the medium. Also not enough gay sex, or sex at all for that matter.

I'm on season 6 episode 3. Everyone says, "just keep watching man, it gets better". It has not and, in all likelihood, will not get better. It's not a great show.
A show cannot run on narrative alone. When there are 6+ stories going on there's no room for character development. I don't give a shit about %90 of characters. They're all fucking dumb. Jon Snow, stumbling his way through life, yawn. Sansa Stark, gets shit on by every man she encounters and stares at the wall for it, yawn. Bran Stark, dragged by a retard into the snow because he saw a bird in his dreams with nothing to show from it, yawn. Stannis Baratheon, 2D king is slave of a witches pussy and his dreams to be king, literally no development, little display of any skepticism of Melisandre, yawn. Cersei, a fucking cunt in charge, yawn. Daenerys Targaryen, a stupid cunt who stumbled into power and has no idea what she's doing, yawn. Tommen, a boyking with no personality, no fight, and doesn't do anything, yawn. Arya Stark, a girl thrown around by the wind, when she does something, a non-major character usually makes a larger impact seconds later, yawn. Ramsay Bolton, an ass, we get it, yawn.
The only interesting characters are Tyrion Lannister, The Hound, and maybe Jamie Lannister. The only characters who aren't made out of cardboard and have a shred of intelligence.
There's so much going on and so little of it matters to the big picture. You cannot drive a story on inane happening after inane happening with little to no relief or inflection. I give such little shits about most of these characters and their stories. Who fucking cares about these 2D, flat, stereotypes. Please, somebody tell me what I'm missing!
I've spent 62 hours on this shit so far and I'm going to finish. What else is there to look for but Melisandre's perfect tits and the destruction of the kingdom by ice zombies?

i havent read many great books, but this one wasnt bad. the show however is pleb-bait incarnate. millennial milk for the masses .

I'm sure that's how it was supposed to end in GRRM's mind, but since the show went full mainstream and an icon for empowered womyn I doubt it.
It'll have a bit less-than-happy ending to not seem soft, but at the same time positive enough for Daenerys, the Imp and the bastard's fans to feel fulfilled.

No, in this regard they merely just did their jobs to a basic level of competence. The whole 'grimdark' aesthetic is a meme that faggots have been perpetuating since Tom Barton's Batman in the late 80's. There are no doubt multiple reasons for the fallacy among both casual and fan consumers but the people actually making this shit are supposed to know better. It's beyond me how an otherwise stellar AAA game like Fallout 3 ever got released with no one pointing-out that a video game (particularly one that's meant to be played for 100+ hours) shouldn't look like tedious, drab shit. The aesthetic is widely regarded as one of it's few missteps (which was conspicuously corrected started with the DLC and later games). To add insult to injury, a grey, lifeless world doesn't even make plausible sense for the setting.

When people say they want their movies, tv shows, and games to be "darker" and "grittier" it's either because they have learned to associate those traits with authenticity and - in a post-modern age where eternal truth, meaning and purpose have been purged from our stories - see "authentic" grimdark as a sort of signpost pointing the way back to truth. Or, they're just mentally ill children (aka women and faggots) who respond to being unhappy by doing things that make them more unhappy in an attempt to hasten a cathartic breakdown that will purge their haywire emotional state.

Either way, it's dumb and no one wins because people instinctively reject it. It only makes sense if you're trying to make people restless and miserable on purpose.
