I think he meant drawing for board OC. I doubt he has any problems coming up with things to draw, but draw threads are usually for drawing for other people or to make board-related OC. Just posting art you've made without interacting with requesters probably would greatly improve these threads because there would be more actual drawings, but there is already the OC thread for that. On the other hand posting stuff you've made unprompted could kickstart art discussion instead of request spam, so it is worth trying (I'd do it if I had any on hand).

Either a Wacom Intuos Small or any other chinese brand tablet like Ugee or Huion. I can't really attest to the quality of the chinese brands, I have had a Wacom Bamboo for 5 years and it's still working. Wacom tablet are a bit on the expensive side since the "added value" is the brand, so you could get a bigger tablet from Ugee or Huion for less money.

Just search for one you think has the best to offer for you (The size, the pen, anything extra) and look for reviews. Also make sure the tablet is compatible with you OS and has no problems with it.

So I'm still a beginner, but I found what really helps me is not drawing but first I start sort of painting general shapes and then working off of them with detail later. I find even if you're a beginner who can't draw worth shit that pain brushes have this naturally nice-looking aesthetic to them. I feel like it'll help me "fake" being pro until I get gud. I read the beginning chapters of on the Right Side of the Brain and I feel like painting helps me sort of unlock that left side the author was talking about.

That book get's recommended so much and it's so useless, in my opinion. That "left side you talk about sounds more like a placebo than anything.

Just practice the fundamentals and you'll be drawing better the more you do it. Start with cubes, cylinders and spheres in different views considering perspective and combine those shapes once you get them right individually, that will help you more than drawing some upside down Picasso scribble.

Still trying to shake off some of the rust in Flash though with Clip Studio on sale I may just switch over to that. I think that has some solid animation tools.

I don't feel competent enough to contribute anything of decent quality (outside of occasional reaction image variation) and most of requests on Holla Forums don't grab my attention. I'm more comfortable with photo realistic stuff, traditional media, and suck at coloring - and all of this doesn't exactly help with Holla Forums requests either.

I'm on it, but it might take a while.

Clip Studio is pretty darn comfy, it has a lot of neat stuff. Being able to change the brush you're using as an eraser is quite convenient and the brush customization is very complete, The animation tools are solid, but I don't think you can use cameras for panning and zooming, so you can export the png sequence and do everything else in AE or Windows Movie Maker or whatever.

Nice doodles, though.

yeh, I might just stick with flash for now. I didn't realize the full version was 80 bucks and having used an old version I figure krita is about as good when it comes to line art tools.

also, your sketch is pretty nice too. I'd work on getting more "flow" into your pose. Remember the "s" shape of the spine to avoid stiffness.

Is there a reason to stay away from stabilizers for digital inking? I figure that even inking brushes have a little bit of drag to them letting the hand lead them a tad easier. Really I just don't want to develop any harmful habits using a stabilizer though.

I generally dislike stabilizers because it makes the strokes so slow and I like going FAST.
Just don't become reliant on them to make nice strokes and you'll be fine; in the end it's a tool like any other, right?

Well, gesture drawing's main use is to make up the posture, flow, action and (sometimes) proportions of the thing you're drawing.

I'd say that you should think about perspective at all times, specially if you're planning of drawing something in a 3D environment. You can simply do the gesture for the pose and fix the perspective once your'e confortable with the pose.

So keep gesture in mind when posing, but at that point it's not the focus. Then, once the loose pose is established start getting more technical with the perspective and form. Sounds right at least.
