It is a physical condition resulting from people's brains being wired differently, and has nothing to do with vaccines or parental affection. Parenting can have a massive difference on whether the person with autism grows up to be high-functioning, but that's nurture, not nature.

IIRC, the actual physical causes are believed to include the parents having children at an older age (which has a higher likelihood of physical issues in general) and complications with the pregnancy, though it's still all pretty poorly understood.

People just want it to be vaccines or the parents so they have something they can blame, rather than have to deal with how people are just born that way and you have to live with it.

It should be noted that early childhood neglect can cause similar symptoms.

If the parents are having kids at an older age they probably aren't spending much time being affectionate with their kid.
