Loved it and have the first 3 seasons on DVD. I think the 4th season was the overall best to me. I shipped BB and Raven so hard and Star is still waifu.

I rewatched this fairly recently
1st encounter - Deathstroke sends Cinderblock and Plasmus to cause some trouble. Titans never directly meet Slade, Robin and Cyborg suspect someone's pulling strings
2nd encounter - Deathstroke sends HIVE to fuck with the Titans. Again they never meet him in person. Gizmo mentions Slade. Robin starts to ask 'Who is Slade'?
3rd encounter - Slade disguises himself as an old samurai and uses the brothers Thunder and Lightning to cause some trouble. He fights Robin. Robin manages to crack part of his samurai mask
4th encounter- Robin disguises himself as Red X, finally meets Deathstroke face-to-face. Robin reveals himself as Red X, fights a Slade who turns out to be a robot decoy
5th encounter - The Titans encounter Deathstroke again. Deathstroke plants a decoy bomb that injects nanites into every Titan except Robin, forcing Robin to work for him in exchange for not killing them. Eventually the other Titans discover the plot and team up to defeat Slade

First guy that talked about why they kept his face under wraps here. Two things, the samurai mask was like some weird fake old man face over his mask. That was stupid. It should've just been Slade without his mask. Then there was a moment like this where Slade gets his masked smashed open. WHY IN GOD'S NAME WOULD THEY HIDE HIS FACE LIKE THIS IF THEY WEREN'T TRYING TO MAKE HIS IDENTITY SOMEHOW MYSTERIOUS?!

There was never any mystery to who he was after the Titans found out who he was. The mask thing was for effect.

But it's so unneeded. Deathstroke as a character was never this in the shadows type of villain that always wore his costume.

The only instances I've seen her in the comics was in New 52. So it was a little shocking to see her there and not be a completely terrible person. Like she actually cares about Kori. Highly regretting having to sell her into slavery.

Yeah don't do that. For one, New 52 is absolute garbage. The poorest excuse for a reboot ever. Doesn't even do anything new most of the time. Batman and Green Lantern sorta still have their continuities but not really. Every else is new. But not really. It makes no sense. Any idea of continuity or placement of what happens when, where, or how is thrown out the window. So unless you love sleepless nights of questioning how things fit where, don't read through any of it.

Also Red Hood and the Outlaws is probably one of the majorly weaker books of the New 52 lineup.

You know the worst part of licensing this show? People assume that's exactly how it was. I mean, it got things pretty okay, but it glossed over the Terra situation - trust me, if you knew what Slade did, you'd know why she chose to vanish afterwards - it didn't address the monumental amount of UST that we were all going through, or the constant low-level bickering that Robin was having with the Bat at the time, it didn't mention Starfire's body count, and it suggested that I 'sealed off' Trigon. I fucking killed him and devoured his essence so he wouldn't be back in a year's time. And that's not even getting into the fact that they made Star and Robin the designated couple, instead of the self-destructive clusterfuck it turned into…

On the other hand, if they did all that, they'd have to do it as an Adult Swim series.

The characters developing was the focus of the show, the monsters, fight scenes, and detective plots only served the characters learning about themselves and each other.

Usually the reason people like shows despite obvious flaws is due to "location", ie. the environment and the characters the story portrays, as opposed to how well it makes a story out of these. Slade was a great villain, even though his greater motives and methods never particularly made sense if you though about it.
Or maybe something like , although I'm not sure the characters really developed that much. Terra, certainly, if rather suddenly.

He tried to recruit ~3 of them, he tried to work with the HIVE, he was looking for a child to groom and expand with and his function as a character was to make them better by trying to brittle them. Why he never moved to another city to try to conquer or had another target didn't matter. None of the DC characters outside of the titans barring the doom patrol didn't matter. That

I thought they all developed. Raven was more open by the end of the show, BB was a bit more serious and mature, Robin was more trusting, Cyborg was more secure, Starfire I suppose helped the others grow more than she herself grew but she didn't get a proper arc in the end.

Why I'm glad you asked. They were thinking of how to get their story past the censors, because the entire episode is a metaphor for immaculate satanic rape:
It starts at night, and with Doctor Light - whom Raven mind-raped back in season 1, and as soon as she waves her tentacles around he doesn't even try to fight her and instead concedes defeat. It's revealed to be her birthday - Raven is growing into into womanhood.
She spends most of the episode stalked by an implacable older man who has a history with teenage boys and girls. He invades her private space, he whispers in her ear, he catches her, strips her, and then traumatizes her (her vision of the apocalypse). During the trauma her hair grows long - she becomes a woman. And with that, she gives up - like Doctor Light - can't even muster up the power to save herself when the man leaves her to fall to the ground, and she has to be saved by a male friend.
When home, she cuts her hair as an attempt to undo, or at least forget the rape, to downplay her femininity and regain control of her life. At the end of the episode, she is comforted by friends and eats ice-cream.
Eight episodes later, she brings Satan himself into the world through a portal - one that manifest at first from the area below her navel, around her womb.
In conclusion, all the edgy teens clap their hands at this masterwork and zone makes a porno of it. But fuck if I can fit the glowing red "birthmarks" into this shit.

TT doesn't need blood, cursing, implied fucking / sexual innuendos, etc. When you read it in the comic is absolutely cringe (except for when brother blood is involved) You can build off of Murakami's series and make it AS tier just by making the plot points a bit more involved / complex

It would never be AS tier, that's my point. It is on every level aimed at children. It's the opposite of Justice League, which is sort of aimed at older children/teenagers but designed not to alienate younger children. Titans is aimed at younger children, with its designs and artstyle, its themes, its mixture of comedy and action with alternating serious/silly episodes, it's just done in a way that doesn't alienate older children/teenagers. To make it an Adult Swim type show would be to ignore everything it was in a not dissimilar way to what TTGO currently does.

I don't buy that when we were given episodes like The End, Birthmark, Mask, Apprentice and even some Cyborg and BB/Terra episodes. I do think it leans heavily toward the kids demographic mostly, but calling it just a kids show is doing it a disservice.

Look, I love Titans as much as the next guy but there's no mature themes going on here. It is thematically Saturday morning fare. 'Power of friendship' and that crap is generally the only theme executives think children are capable of understanding.

It's everywhere. It's cancer. It's never believable, because they have no chemistry besides the kind that boils over and makes an unpleasant mess for everyone involved. To make it work, people change Beast Boy's character to something completely different.
He annoys her. She abuses him physically and verbally. Sure they care for each other deep down, but they both care for all their other teammates a lot closer to the surface. He's a big-mouth class clown, she's a shut-in bookworm, their temperaments are completely at odds. He's frankly an idiot, she's a whole other mess of issues that he's not equipped to deal with. She's stronger than him, and polygamy is a bitch. And it's not very charming or interesting.
But mostly, Beast Boy just isn't a very attractive guy. He's short, lazy, and un-masculine. Without his powers, he'd be a loser. Without the team, he'd be a fat, balding circus attraction. With both, he's still the show's butt-monkey, the lowest on the team's social hierarchy, and Raven could do better, by a lot.

There's no such thing as a good pairing, but they are rather cute together. Also, the main appeal stems from the fact that BB was the character most of the kids could relate to (minus the stern veganism) and Raven was the chick they wanted, so naturally BB hooking up with her is like user hooking up with Raven.

He was tha one who annoyed her the most but also tried the most to bring her out of his shell. She was also the one to comfort him / speak with him on an equal level when he needed it, which was unlike the other titans. As the series grew you could see them both level out. It's an obvious pairing.

Also girls love the bbxraven thing, they ship them just as much, if not more

That explains why the shitty new TT cartoon keeps trying to alienate him and Starfire and why Cyborg is portrayed as more of a douche (like all the characters) but with a desire to abandon his friends/family and join the Justice League simply for fame despite that in the old show it was made clear that he would always be a member of the og TT during the whole Titans East thing. TTGO is just another dump on a legacy.
