Is this just a Star Wars cartoon thing or what?

I always see that one clone character like this in the cartoons

All the Clone Armies had differently coloured leaders who answered to the Jedi. They got the pathfinders as they get shiny toys.

They were also given more independent thought compared to the other clones, hence their leadership status. I think the dual pistols could be a reference to Jango, as he used dual pistols, and they are his clones.

who cares

but what about when the cartoons and comics were good?

fuck off

even the CG clone wars had good moments

iirc they are arc troopers, they are bassicaly clone spetznas.

never?

The clones are a full blown army; like any good army, they have ranks, roles, specialists, leaders and elites.

God I love that show. I remember watching it as a kid and one part had General Grievous fighting Asajj Ventress and Durge just to test Grievous. But when I look on youtube and watch the full version of the show that part is not there. Am I misremembering this or did Grievous actually fight Ventress and Durge?

I don't think Grievous ever fought Durge or Ventress. I don't really know about the comics, but if the cartoon is taken on its own, Obi Wan appears to kill Durge pretty early on, and it's heavily implied that Anakin kills Ventress at the end of season 1, right before the bit where Grievous is introduced.

The colored trim is there right from the start- there are a handful of clones with red and yellow trim on their armor in AotC. To my knowledge, it was the cartoon that introduced the pauldron, belt-spat, and special weapons as being distinct to the ARC troopers, but the style was later expanded to apply to a lot of clone commanders by the end of the war.

Is there a list of the Star Wars comics worth reading? I'm going through the Clone Wars now with a friend and figure is read some of the better series while waiting for our schedules to line up.

I always thought the skirt and pauldron were a reference to the storm troopers on Tatooine that wore those pauldrons.

There was a storytime here a while back where the Australian chick storytimed some Clone Wars era comics. The one detailing the origins of Jango Fett is a personal favorite of mine.

Gendyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

So the clone wars comics are a pretty safe bet?

Or I should ask if the Clone Wars Omnibus is alright considering it was edited together by Marvel and skips some issues.

The only clone wars comic I read (CGI based) was about Rex getting some new clones but the clones still fell into their numbered names and never had the will to have their own names so Rex teaches them the importance of free will.

I'm reading the ones before the CGI series at the moment. I'm surprised what a good job it does building Anakin's character and his obsession with stopping death. Also, it ties into the Clone Wars cartoon in several ways… one of which being that it's able to be so light hearted because by the time the cartoon starts all the weaker Jedi have been weeded out.

Dark Horse? Yeah those are good Alpha 17 is basically Rex

I would've preferred this still being canon and the EU to the current Disney shit. What was best about it was that this and the EU were all just an ambiguous canon that could be easily retconned or re-canonized easily. But now with Disney pushing this "one true canon" bullshit, there's no more crazy fun. There's never supposed to be a one true canon. Leave it always ambiguous and easily changeable. Now its all just static and made up of crap like pic-related.

Fuck I miss Genndy Wars.

I've noticed that. I'm almost finished with the second Omnibus now. After that I'm thinking of either going to the Knight of the Old Republic Omnibus, or something decent with Vader. My friend Recommended the new Vader series from Marvel but I'd rather not get invested in anything with the Marvel name on it.

Genndy Wars was great but it was pure high octane action even bordering with warhammer 40k tier stunts like this

CGI clone wars got better but rebels just fucking sucks

don't know about a list, but Boba Fett and the Ship of Fear was good

just steer clear of all the marvel 2015 and onward shit and you'll be fine. best option is to just stick to dark horse, but old marvel is fun as well.

...

Seeing the current state of cartoons and comics thats probably a blessing.

Kyle and Jaden were the only 2 jedi I ever liked even due to the fact Kyle trained Jaden in his style of using the force which was basically "Dont fucking think of the force as good or bad instead use it as a tool. You wanna use force lighting? Go ahead it all depends in how you use it"

Why do people love Katarn so much?

Was it just the grey Jedi charm or what? I never got it

that was from the comic tie-in

not sure if it came out before or after grievous' actual appearance

Katarn wasnt really a grey jedi but he came in time where most jedi added were boring same old shit.

I always loved Katarns portray as a reluctant jedi even after gaining force powers he always went back to a blaster. His struggle with the dark side and his inherit fear of it also sold me. The way he used the force was great too he considered it a tool and not some be all thing. Which was why he could use sith powers.

Katarn was a rogue Jedi, who dabbled in various powers that were traditionally dark side powers. Alongside his dashing good looks, and disregard of established Jedi teachings, Katarn was basically Solo if he was a Jedi. He was even a Corellian.

I find it funny how a hotshot jedi got stuck with Jaden Korr as a apprentice even if Jadens emotionless personality was part of the character

The running joke is that Katarn is Chuck Norris

I'm well aware. I was a die hard Star Wars fan, until Disney bought it. Episode III is still the pinnacle of what is Star Wars though.

makes me sad every day that so many people still believe they are shit while praising the Disney Star Wars crap.

OT was good, but PT was better. People talk shit about Anakin and the actor, but his reactions are very much believable. Who wouldn't mass murder the fuck out of the Tuskens? Who wouldn't go to hell and back to save their family?

Also Obi-Wan and Ewan Mcgregor was great. Just fucking great. The choreography and his own light hearted nation was what made the PT great.

Not to mention how everyone was trying to use Anakin by the third movie further driving him to the Dark Side… hell, even Obi-Wan was unknowingly trying to manipulate him.

on a side note, I think if Mace would have let him tagged along to apprehend or kill Palpatine that could have kept him from going full dark side.

To almost everyone, he was a means to an end. From his very beginnings as a Jedi he was doomed to failure as everyone put so much of their hope and burdens on him that it was a guarantee he would fail. Even in the old EU, there was never an exact definition of what "bringing balance to the force meant" and it was ultimately very cryptic.

You're probably right, if Mace and the Masters would have allowed Anakin to come along, things would have ended differently. Instead, they forced him to sit around and dwell on his fears, which resulted in all of their deaths.

That said, Empire is the best Government. Palpatine was a shit Emperor, but Empire was still better than Republic.

I think we can all agree on that, regardless if we're Genndy Wars or CGI Wars autists.

Just fucking blow my brains out already and end my miserable existence.

Will to live suddenly raised a bit.

This.

Frank Oz: still a prequel defender and hated ABC's The Muppets

To be honest the Clone Wars is my favorite era. It gave us the

The cartoons and comics redeem the prequels immensely

Who doesn't? Disney fucked them over horribly, especially with that dreadful sequel. But that TV show was just disgusting.

True… Too bad the lore and past works have all been pozzed to hell or discarded like trash, and all these new age TFA fans don't give a rat's ass because "lol prequels and clones suck! only basement dwellers own old comics and games!". Fucking Bazinga fags.

Clones a best

I find it amazing soldiers with the same face have more character than shit in TFA

Good soldiers… follow orders…

yeah, nah, they're shit.
George did a terrible job of conveying Anakin's turn to the dark side.

Know the name of it? I would like to read it.

Not that user, but I recall reading it online ages ago on the CN site when the cartoon was still airing. Although I can't be too sure.

Not saying its still on the site, but maybe there's an archive somewhere? On second thought, I doubt it… FML

why the fuck is he defending the prequels? didnt they go back and replace his puppet Yoda with a CGI version?

Well to be honest, the puppet Yoda looked nothing like the OT Yoda. He looked like a green cousin Skeeter with big ears.

George is his nigga

… never ever trust modern Marvel with anything.

Sooooooo… What do you guys think fallen-then-redeemed Jedi on this board?

*think of.

Kriff, I'm retarded.

Rouge jedi are better

brb, lipstick.

Faggots. Embrace the code of the Sith. Or die.

the Jedi/Sith philosophy dichotomy is retarded and is only justifiable withing the context of the fictional star wars universe. sitting around and meditating to solve the world's problems is somewhat valid when you have a detectable and measurable physical phenomena that can be directly influenced by it. but take that same philosophy and try to apply it to real life and you basically have the hippy movement/eastern religion. deterministic nihilism is also retarded as a guiding principle, but it at least applies to real life somewhat better then the alternative. It's exactly the kind of good/evil system you'd expect a hippy like Lucas to come up with.

readcomiconline.to/Comic/Star-Wars-Clone-Wars-Adventures/TPB-3?id=21596

dude, you can read the whole thing right here

who cares? it is a gay children's series. it isn't quality. it's a stupid disney story for kids. why don't we talk about the beauty and the beast lore while we're at it?

star wars is a gay, pointless fairy tale for kids

That's easy for you to say Mr. Edgy, but haven't you seen how the Sith end up? Rotting from the inside out, their dreams in ruins, everything they ever wanted in pieces.

Why would you ever want to live like that?

Even the silliest moments in the Crystal Star never made me visibly cringe unlike the recent SW shit from Marvel and the Disney novels (fuck you Wendig).

EU rogue/gray jedis or rogue siths were the best. Pure Jedis were soulless stuck-ups while siths were constantly trying to murder each other. And sadly that screams more true now ever since George decided their can't be true grays and stomping out any EU references in CGI Wars. They were even going to have Durge from Genndy Wars but fuck it, because we can't have nice things. Fuck you George.

Thanks fam. Will read.

Darth Vader and the Lost Command is good. One of the later DH comic series.

I'm reading it now and it's awesome. Thanks fam.

Then it's a good thing we're on a board dedicated to discussing gay pointless fairy tales for kids.

They weren't so bad, user. Some of them were really decent people, you know? I mean, I get how they could get a reputation in certain political climates but they really are trying to do what's best for the galaxy.

War's tough though. Even Jedi can make mistakes when you cant really tell who's on the right side, especially when there are smart charismatic people on either end.

Well it really doesn't matter anymore. Since CGI Wars and the Disney buyout, everything is now strictly black and white and predictable as hell in terms of morality and alliances, and that's only just one of many shit loads of awful. Damn you Lucas on so many levels.

Because the Prequels kick ass, pleb.

fuck no, the best scene by far is, after a whole season showing jedi kicking ass and taking names, Grievous go in and murders three people without breaking a sweat and then the season ends with him jumping on the jedi master

I had such a fucking broner when Grievous showed up. I wanted the toys, I wanted more of this guy in SW. He restored my interest in the prequels! Then they made him a weak ass asthmatic which I didn't mind since Windu fucked up his lungs, but then CGI Clone Wars comes around and makes him into fucking Space Skeletor/Dr. Claw. He was a hacking coward since they one who stole lightsabers from padawans and always ran away while getting chewed up by Dooku for his "constant incompetence"… And Dooku wasn't much better. Went from a multi-dimensional character as portrayed in the comics who recognized that the senate and the jedi order had become corrupt and was basically a less insane commiefag with plenty of debt and some honor. But instead he ends up Palpatine's blindly loyal lapdog who fucks with the CIS on a regularly basis for no reason and has no respect for anyone. Fuck all this jack. Years of fanboy devotion, and all for this heaping mess from the mind of a beyond senile Lucas!

Read the Clone Wars Omnibus'

He's fucking mean in the comics. He kills Jedi left and right until he becomes bored of it and conquers civilizations and ends them.

Anyone know if "the Art of Star Wars Clone Wars" has been uploaded anywhere? I want to check out the art but the book itself is a tad pricey.

I'm glad

this. fuck that.

He throws her out an airlock though. So some semblance of comfort.
