CITY OF PHILADELPHIA FILES MOTION TO FORCE WORKERS BACK ON ELECTION DAY HEARING TOMORROW GOVERNOR TOM WOLF SHILLING AGAINST STRIKE
>"On November 8, 2016, hundreds of thousands of Philadelphians will cast ballots for President, Senator, and other important offices. The City has a legal responsibility to ensure that Philadelphians can exercise their constitutional right to vote. Though there are extensive efforts to minimize the effect of any transit strike on Election Day, unquestionably, such an Election-Day strike will make it practically impossible for many Philadelphians to participate in this election. While there is still time for SEPTA and TWU to resolve the strike before Election Day, the Law Department must act now to ensure that as many Philadelphia residents as possible can vote without disruption. As a result, we are asking the Court for temporary relief."
>"Due to the inability of SEPTA and TWU to reach a compromise, I will file an amicus brief in support of the immediate injunction pending before the court to ensure that the system is fully operational and able to serve the individuals who rely solely on SEPTA for their transportation needs."

Top kek. A few of us called this. The bus drivers should not show up at the last minute or show up but not do anything.
Lucas Cook
What is the state going to do? fire them? whoa who wants to be a bus driver anyway.
Evan Bell
They are looking for an excuse to fire them and hire scabs. The drivers, if they have smart representation, will draw things out to election day or make it hard to hire scabs to replace the drivers.
Jose Taylor
We should make matters worse by doing what has suggested.
Doesn't driving a bus require some knowledge of routes and possession of a CDL? inb4 they hire drivers who don't know the routes and go wildly of course.
John Cooper
This could be mega illegal if they try to force them, right? It's not like their right to organize and strike goes away because election season.
