Classic Disneyesque tale of a guy getting turned into something he's not, learning to be humble and saving the day in time to go back on his decisions and become a proper ruler, but everything is played straight. There were going to be musical pieces, a female llama love interest and much more drama.
Then they scrapped all of it because literally nobody wanted to watch that junk and made one of the finest comedy cartoons ever. Even the posters with "It's all about ME" were bold and funny for a company whose MO is "get to their heartstrings and pull the money out of their pockets".

He's not, he's kind of dumb but then again he speaks to animals and generally follows orders to the letter.

It cut out all the cool concept ideas for the movie that actually embraced the Japanese elements instead of turning it into a shitty hipster fantasy like we get in the final cut.

I mean, it was that kind of movie where diversity wasn't forced… sure, they were all red skins and whatever but you could relate to Kuzco, Kronk and the farmer who's name I can't remember at the moment.

Then there's the nigger and the frog, liked a bit less but the Botor was cool.
I mean, at least they used their own culture to do that shit, didn't blackwash the character and culture to go "DIVERSITY".

I think the point here is that as long as the movie uses realistic culture and races then it can be enjoyable, otherwise it ends up being a propaganda filled piece of shit.

In this way, the "diversity" is more in the selection of movies we have rather than the movie itself being "diverse".
