vid.me has the same problems as youtube

D-M and U-S are the only viable options.

vidme is kiked. Don't fall for d-tube either, they ask you to jump through hoops to sign up (multiple confirmations, mobile number etc), don't allow any customization whatsoever and expect you to pay with cryptocurrency to upload videos after a week. ""Decentralized"" bullshit scam.

dtube is a botnet

pornhub

The central issue is that these sites make money from advertising and advertisers can thus dictate the content.

On Jewtube you've got the worst of both worlds with Jewish censorship from the (((owners))) and content of videos dictated by the (((advertisers))). People use it because it's popular.

Sites should make it so advertisements only show on certain videos.

Give them more options:

My favourite at the moment is bitchute.com/
Torrent-based, no restrictions on content, constantly being improved. I suggest that you keep an eye on it.

There's also bittube.co/ but it's 100% nazi so it's pretty much a ghetto with no hope of growing into something bigger.

Vid.me has potential, but the interface needs some work, and they don't support free speech. From their FAQ:

Of course they claim to be anti-censorship, but it only applies to stuff they agree with (it's funny how similar reddit and Holla Forums really are).

Vimeo is cool, but it's only for artistic videos.
Liveleak is for the edgy stuff you can't find on Youtube.
Mediagoblin lacks features and is not user-friendly.

There's also minds.com/
It's like a hybrid of Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, and it also has blogs. Pro-free speech. Some people love it, personally I find it confusing.

pornhub is run by the jews

...

vimeo has a bunch of crazy shit on it. Since it gets more artists uploading bizarre stuff I don't think they care as much about censorship.

They wont until icann pulls their registration.

Hey while you're here, explain how to rip a video off of bitchute please. I'm trying to test out their transcoding and I can't even figure out how to re-download my own video. Youtube-dl doesn't appear to work.

I performed some comparisons a while back and found that the quality of transcoding (i.e., how much they decide to shit on your upload) is the following from worst to best quality:

Vid.me < Youtube < Vimeo

Youtube additionally has increasingly the most asinine resolution restrictions of any other site I've come across. They are trying hard at hell to force people into a dichotomy of either widescreen 16:9 "HD" bullshit or worthless smartphone resolutions with little option in between.

nicovideo is a pretty bad option, stuff is deleted all the time.

Video DownloadHelper (add-on for Firefox) seems to work.

Rather than just blindly listing alternatives, let's pinpoint what the ideal system would look like and grade them from there. Here's my tier list.

Essential:
Without these, why even bother?

Very important:
If there is no profit to be made, and you're not a corporate juggernaut like Google who can afford to eat the cost, your service won't be around for very long.

Important:
Without original content, nobody will use your service. Content creators will not switch from Youtube if it impacts their bottom line, and nobody will pay them if they don't use the service.

Somewhat important:
Centralized hosting in this most current of years is a fool's game, especially for large media. It's distribute or die if you're working from the ground up. Note that "content hosts get paid" also applies here. Almost nobody will bother using their bandwidth to help unless there's something to be gained.

Barely important:
Once you get normalfags' eyeballs on the content, you want to keep them there.

Not important but nice to have:
Just stuff to appease Holla Forums autism. Many of us find these features very important, but we are very unimportant in the grand scheme of things.

I can't be the only one who reads "bit chute" as "bitch ute".

The goal should be true decentralization. The next best thing is to spread yourself across many services and do not invest too much effort into one.

Peertube.

Federated webtorrent only webtorrent. Bitchute is a proprietary shit

I heard that site was affiliated with Reddit somehow?

MediaGoblin mediagoblin.org/ is good too.

Just use Html video tags and a burner media sharing site like mixtape.moe or catbox.moe.
Alternativily, you can use ipfs.

pew.tube is worth checking out

pew.tube is kill. The operator is a sperg

bitchute.com/video/CSw7kJOtA6Qs/
bitch ute is meh they re-encode stuff and I cant use my own web seeds yet D:

> D:

github.io
lets you upload actual video files instead of using some embed script bullshit

I'm not sure they have any official relationship but like Imgur Vidme was created mainly for redditors to upload their videos

except that only works if your video gets a hundred visualizations per day. The moment it starts being downloaded by thousands of people from several sites (because people will also copy the video's source link and post on their site) it will get deleted in no time.

surely you jest

...

Interesting parallel to the spread of a disease here. Major hosts gets infected, apply antibiotic, illness retreats to smaller, weaker hosts. Eventually immunity becomes widespread, disease mutates or dies.

As long as your videos coincide with the owner's personal and political tastes.

just switch to a different host if they delete your crap. sitll 100x better than embedding some "social" video crap into your page

DTube is backed by a blockchain and IPFS. I'd rather have pay-to-upload than shell out to advertisers.

hooktube.com/

why are you on tech?

first off dtube doesnt use ur damn cellphone. these is no recovery processs to getting your account back.

what is so darn difficult about signing up on steemit just to go to your wallet and enter your private posting key to sign up for dtube.

steemit.com/video/@heimindanger/introducing-dtube-a-decentralized-video-platform-using-steem-and-ipfs

...

I want to fuck that Chinese rabbit.

I came across this problem and my conclusion was that mediagoblin is currently the best replacement, in terms of privacy and censoring.

YouTube essentially combines social networking with video hosting. Those two separately are very easy to find. Basically, if you made a blog post on any social media site or blog host, with a video embedded, you would've have replicated the core feature of YouTube.

The problem that is currently had is also YouTube, and YouTube copies acting as a singular hub, and if you wanted to move off it to another, you'd have to re-make an account.

I'd think something that replicates GNUSocial, except as a video host frontend, would solve the issue.

GNU Mediagoblin.

pathetic.

why are we even discussing dtube? it's just a blank page

Then why did my phone number need to be used for confirmation you sneaky fucking shill? why has my burner phone been receiving calls from marketers despite nobody calling it for months until I signed up?

There are people here that watch YouTube?
What the fuck.

DTube doesnt work in Palemoon ( which also cant use youtube dl+MPV), iy only shows a ehite page. I deactivade Noscript, Ublock but nothing. I have just started using Palemoon, so im not sure whats the problem...

BITCHUTE.

Its really new.
It uses bittorrent technology so they dont have to spam us with ads or sell out to Corporate SJWs to recoup enormous server costs.

And it sounds a bit like poop chute.

Two other cool things about bitchute I just thought of:

1. If you already have a youtube account you can tell bitchute to clone all the content to bitchute. So you dont even have to reupload your videos on bitchute.

2. In the end you wont actually need the bitchute website. You could deploy their technology on your own site and become a mini youtube yourself. Without huge server costs because its peer 2 peer.

Yes? And?

You're hurting our community with your lack of insight.

They censoring shit? emptyhero is moving there

that's not true. All of the gachimuchi on bilibili was taken down a few months ago. It wasn't reported on western media, I heard about it from my chink friends. They also require you to register using your real identity (I imagine that if you're not a chinese citizen, you won't be able to register anymore).

Also, isn't porn of any kind illegal in China?

Preliminary testing indicates that Bitchute transcodes at a higher quality than even Vimeo. Very nice. On the other hand, it seems to downgrade this 59fps video to 24fps, which is a huge problem for me since I work with video games. Everyone else halves the frame rate properly, and if you increase the resolution to 960 wide, Vimeo will even preserve frame rates higher than 30fps.

BitChute needs to at least handle frame rates at least as well as everyone else does. I don't like this tradeoff.

Bitchute is probably my favorite option. There's also something called LBRY which I'm not too familiar with. It has its own client. Seems kind of meh but I'll need to do more research.

But I can't make a channel and upload videos on poopchute?

i see a blank page on dtube in palememe without any plugins

lmfao at ur lief

If you can point me to a video host that lets the user work around size and/or bitrate limitations on their own encodes without transcoding shit, I'd love to see it.

What else isn't run by them?

Is bitchute's feature that it doesn't fucking work? I have attempted to upload multiple different videos all day and the big red button at the top right that says "Finish" never actually activates each time, despite waiting long after the upload completes.
