YOU SHOULD *NEVER* "PREVIEW" A PDF FILE. EVER.
.pdf files can execute scripts and access the internet without your permission or knowledge. This will prevent firefox from automatically opening a pdf should you ever click on a link that leads to one.

If you want to look at a .pdf file you can open it in Sumatra PDF which does not support execution of scripts, or better yet, open it in a VM on a seperate computer running a liveOS that's disconnected from the internet.
