Stargate

For the first time in seven years, there will be a Stargate panel at this year's San Diego Comic Con. Apperently there will be "exclusive news".

…is it happening?

Why would anyone think a reboot is good news? It will be filled with liberal shit like the x-files

Why would anyone be excited for this?

I'm on season 5 right now and i have to admit it's the best tv show ever, nothing can compare. There have been some "stronk women" and even an episode where a race was implied to be nazis, but nothing major.

Inb4 it's SG-1 remastered + bluray release.

I want SGU back and that they get rid of the fucking fat kid Elie!
What a fucking Jewish name!
#TeamRush

I was disappointed in them helping the shitskins by sabotaging people who wanted to genuinely trade with them technology.

I would be more than happy with that.

The actor who plays Eli isn't fat anymore.
I wish they would bring back the show. I liked the whole philosophical approach to the whole Stargate concept that was ignored until SGU (what it means to work for the SGC, the risks, the Ancients, the cosmic background radiation etc.).
Rush/Young OTP :^)

Once a fattie always a fattie!
I really loved Julia Benson, I hope I could see nudes of her =^_^=
They have started a Comic series but I wonder why they didn't choose a more realistic way of drawing, the characters from the series are barely recognisable and I am being generous here.

Stargate Universe the comic book begins right where Season Two of the acclaimed science fiction TV series ended, with the crew and unwilling passengers of Destiny set to cross a vast expanse of space with no margin for error. With almost all of the crew of the ancient starship Destiny in suspended animation, only Eli Wallace is left awake to repair his own stasis pod before time runs out.

While he races against time, a new and unexpected danger threatens the fragile plan designed to keep everyone alive and away from the aliens who had been pursuing them. What strange new menace confronts Eli, Colonel Young, Doctor Rush and the others? You’ll have to pick up this issue to find out!

(second pic is supposed to be Lt. Scott )

I love SG-1, but believe me when I say it ended for a reason.

Shame too because Earth's growing power and influence in the galaxy gives me a boner

I've created a monster

It was both a good thing and a bad thing because the writers forgot to take into consideration the other alien races after the fall of the goa'ulds (the same shit happened throughout SGA's run). The Lucian Alliance was a nice idea but the writers treated them as cartoon villains. They tried to add more depth to the Lucian Alliance society (societies?) on SGU but I think it was too late.

You can blame the early carter "strong womyn" stuff on jonathan glassner who was only a writer for the first few season. Carter becomes an actual character starting in 3 and they stop with the really cringe "women in man's world" shit. There is a reason why they cut it out of the "children of the god's" directors cut and make fun of it in the 200th ep a lot

They really made earth way to powerful, In fact the stargate cannon has some of the fastest and most powerful ships and tech in most of scifi. I remember reading old forum posts on spacebattles and whenever it's stargate vs something, they just wipe the floor. I think the ships take a few days to travel the distance voyager took the whole show

The asgard plasma beam/Star Trek phaser was a mistake.

The big one I see come up a lot too is the time compression thing the size of a shoe box, that can speed up or slow down time in it's field to such an extent that a million years can pass on a planet in the blink of an eye to an outside universe. Make's building a lot of ships not that big of a deal

Rush was the only good character, he understood the magnitude of where they were and what they could learn. Everyone else were just bitching about how they are not suppose to be there and trying to play power politics to get control of the ship.

I liked Young, his struggle with the fact that he wanted to be closer to his wife and stop risking his life on the other side of the galaxy. Rush and Young are two of the best characters in the entire franchise and also 2 great actors. It was interesting to see both characters grow during the two seasons.

That's a weird way to spell Onei'll and Mckay

SGA was better than SG1, SGU was alright and the animated series is 7/10.

This isn't news, tbh. They've been in talks to create a new trilogy of films. Only thing that would actually be good is a film or S6 of Atlantis, but that won't happen, so we'll get pozzed SG1 movie trilogy; Teal'c will be jet black, O'neil will be Afro-American, Carter will be Latino and Jackson will either be even more beta and never develop a backbone OR be Asian and show a small amount of backbone.

Yeah they were going to do it but then the MGM bankruptcy happened and the direct-to-dvd market collapsed due in part to online streaming services taking off. It was assumed by all the people responsible for the show that it was never going to happen. Cooper even released their drafts of scripts for what their plans were for sgu season 3 was going to be.
Then they were planning to just reboot the whole thing and cancel all the TV show Cannon, but since Independence Day 2 failed so spectacularly now that looks like they're not going to do that anymore. I guess if they do make more content based off of the TV Cannon we can think Roland emmerich for being such an inept director.
Also Brad Wright is still involved I'm pretty sure the extra sjw diversity crap won't be in it.

He was ok in SG-1 then turned into a caricature of himself during SGA.

Personally I feel Jackson and O'Neal are just decent by themselves, but the show goes into God tier mode whenever they're playing and working off each other, whether that be for conflict or for comedy.

Apparently the one scene in SGU when they are talking to each other, the director had about 20 minutes of them snarking back and forth, but they didn't want to use any of it because they wanted that darker tone.

Check
Check

you mean hot dead doctor

Come on, Jonas was a good character, too bad Richard Dean Anderson couldn't stand the actor.

Weirdo scientologists are usually annoying.

I've never heard this. Is there a (credible) source for it?

why can't all shows be like SG-1

;_;7

Wait, she died?

yes heroes pt1 and 2. One of the best two part-ers in the series if you ask me.

...

maybe they''ll announce an actual game that will come out and not be completely shit.
How hard can it be, any generic cover base shooter mechanics would have worked for fine for this franchise, as long as they got the actors to do the voices and had a decent story.

Pls no. Stargate:Galactica was the grave. Let it stay dead. Pls. PLZ.

One of the dumber things about the show. Still good and well done though

That forum died a horrible death, and lurches on, zombie like,. It breaks my heart what happened to sb.

That's one reason I like SGA's story better, because even though earth had all this alien tech, the wraith were much more of a threat because of numbers and the fact "they were waking up" so there kept on just being more and more.

I do like like the characters from SG-1 more though and I love the world building in that show. All the tech that they had in latter seasons you can point to an episode(s) where it was discovered or developed,You really get to feel like you are watching the growth of a space-faring civilization. So when they finally get to making these advanced ships, you can look at them and see all the inspiration from previous ships, all the histories and backstories of all the different reactors, weapons, and even down to the metal the ships are made from.

Even the original Stargate movie is quite good.

What would be really funny is a show set in 3000 AD when "Earth" is a word spoken with fear and contempt by most aliens on the non-Earth humans after the various nations took their particular parts of the technology from the stargate series(USA, Russia, Chinks, and I think Japs) and skull fucked several galaxies with their OP bullshit before fracturing into hundreds of pocket empires which are all at each other's throats. Assholes destroying ancient aliens with bullshit tech more OP than their own, assholes making vonneumann swarms, assholes trying to ascend to godhood, assholes fucking with time, entire leagues of assholes dedicated to stopping some of this bullshit from getting out of hand and destroying the entire universe, and good old fashioned imperialism. And it would be great if the show itself didn't vilify this behavior or make them into caricatures but rather portrayed them all as simply looking out for their own interests albeit with the ruthless application of power.

...

Pretty sure a lot of Gaters would threaten them with physical violence on stage plus campaign of harassment online.

t. gater since 1997, passionate of military rifles and proud amateur of Old Scotch

I guess at that point we'll find out if all the fan's p90s are real or not

looks like we know the name of the show now
stargate.mgm.com/

I don't think this is going to happen. Maybe that's just me though.

Interesting, that was the name of the new Stargate show that they wanted to make after the 8th season of SG-1.
If I recall correctly, it was supposed to be like the 8th season (more SGC scenes, political intrigues, etc.). Then they changed their minds (or Sci-Fi Channel didn't like the idea) and made more SG-1 seasons with a bunch of new characters.

I forgot to add that I hope Mallozzi and Mullie aren't involved in this.

...

Meh, I'll give it a go. I didn't like SGU but at least they took a change and tried something new, rather than continuing the same old format like Star Trek did with Voyager and Enterprise.

My guess is they’ll continue the serious drama route of SGU. I’m not sure a SG1-like show would work anymore: a sci-fi action-adventure show about the U.S. air force sending soldiers trough an ancient piece of alien technology to the other side of the galaxy to fight Egyptian gods…

Nope, it was the actors not wanting to change the name because it would mean their salaries would've been cut (because SGC would've been a new show).

I liked SGU but given how it was poorly received by the fans I think they should try to do something like a mix of SG-1 and SGU, a good ratio between humor and drama.
Also if SGC turns out to be a tv show, I wonder who will be the composer, since Joel Goldsmith passed away (he did a great job on SGU, it still pisses me off that they never released a soundtrack).

Oh I didn't know that.

During the first two seasons sure, then they became a joke as the Atlantis team got overpowered.

I hate Mallozzi so much, his writing in series as well as his fucking blog.
He is the reason why the first part of the first season of SGU was so slow and turning in a ridiculous soap opera. He has shit tastes in films and books, I always hated his mailbags answers and this fucker has placed a restraining order against me.

That's because he and his writing partner don't know how to write relationships. The shitty love triangles in SGA were awful, it was like watching adults acting like 5 year olds.
lol really?
One thing I liked about his blog was the behind the scenes/production stuff (set designs, props).

Shit, I didn't realize that but you're right: who says it’s a new tv show? I remember talks about the original creators of the Stargate movie wanting to do a sequel for years. So maybe it’s going to be nothing like the shows. Anyway, for me Stargate will always be seasons 1 through 8 of SG1.

Pretty much this, following his relationship with his gook love interest through his blog really irritated me.
Pretty boring too, he didn't even answer my long emails, that changed when I started targeting her.
If they had listen to me SGU wouldn't have been cancelled at the time.
They better not disappoint me this time, I have nothing to lose.

They've abandoned the project, don't you read the news at gateworld.net?

In a new interview with Empire Magazine published today Devlin said that the project has fallen apart.

“It looked good for a couple of months, but now it’s not looking so good,” he said. “There are just a lot of things that have to fire at the same time, and there was a moment where I thought it was all firing at the same time, and then it all kind of fell apart.”

gateworld.net/news/2016/11/the-stargate-reboot-film-has-fallen-apart/

That jew is a terrible actor

This is why I didn't got into Warehouse 13, nearly ruined Person of Interest playing only in three episodes.
I hate him so much.

That rat is the reason ovens were invented.

It's funny I found this today and picked it up for 2 bucks at a thrift store. Did I overpay?

pics or it didn't happen

maybe a Netflix movies? Brad wright's travelers has been successful on netflix, maybe they'll let him do the SGA movie on it.

What do you mean? The Holocaust never happened.

I heard some rumors that info got leaked and it's going to be another shit mobile game they are announcing, but can find any info about it

Would be a great dark comedy, TBH.

user, come on. Next you're going to tell me that niggers shouldn't be villified for the bullshit that they do.

I didn't see the new season or whatever of the x files what kinda kike shit did they put into it?

...

why live?

I'm so glad ID4 2 failed and we won't get a movie reboot. Roland and Dean is so full of shit, besides being a shit directors and writers. Wouldn't even watch any episodes of the TV series to find out why it was so successful compared to the movie. I wouldn't have mind it as much if he at least acknowledged the series or maybe through in some small easter eggs only the fans of the tv series would get, instead of the only elements being it will be "team based" but nope, in his mind the tv series is evil because he thinks the concept was their baby, even though the screenplay was based off a book.
I don't care if they make sgu 2 or actually make a wormhole extreme spin off as long as it stays away from those two clowns, anything that is made will be better than what those two clowns will do with it.

The ratings were shit, because it wasn't Stargate. It was faggoty drama instead of fun. The characters and writing were also shit.

shameless bump from the bottom for today is the day

You're doing God's work user.

So, basically, every "love" story in fiction ever.

Official Stargate page posted the pilot director's cut on youtube.
with all this nostalgia push they must be planning something bigger than a shit phone game right?

Awesome I rewatch the film Stargate yesterday, I will get comfy watching SG1 pilot tonight.

Sha’re’s infamous nude scene — demanded by the network at the time — has also been excised, making Final Cut as family-friendly as the rest of the 10-year television series

I'll take it because the re-dub of all of teal'c's lines so he doesn't sound like he's freezing to death, redoing some of the weird gate effects and movie stock footage, and carter's cringe lines removed makes it way more watchable. When re-watching the series i usually start around season 3 anyways.

Who was the best Sha're (Sha'uri in the film) depiction? (((Mili Avital))) (film) or Vaitiare Bandera (SG1)?

Seems we have read the same article from Gateworld, I hope they will have a hashtag to follow the announcement.

that's at 1080p, is this up scaled? because they only sold this as a DVD.

A comment on gateworld says it seems upscale because of the softness of the picture. Can't confirm right now myself.

The show was shot on film until the 9th season.

I once hoped people like you didn't exist.

That's not really censorship, it was something inserted over the heads of the creators, and didn't fit with the show's tone.

It might be like ST:TNG or B5, where the live-action and practical effects are film, but the CGI is all SD.

I still want to watch it, in this day of age where they brainwash children with gender theory and sex education, I would say I would prefer my children watch this.

I'm saying the director's cut of the pilot as well as all of sg-1 has not been sold in HD yet. If that is true 1080p and not a DVD rip upscaled it could mean SG-1 on blueray might be coming

I am still pissed that SGU was cancelled.

...

Here is the scene

Nope after the first part of season 1 most of it is pretty enjoyable.
I have been a fan of Stargate since 1994 and Gater since 1998, you have nothing on me redditrash.

This tbh fam.

8th season, actually.

Regardless, the pilot on Youtube looks worse than the DVD.

The first episode was the only good episode.

The 8th? Weird, I remember an audio commentary in season 9 where one of the guys said that they had to reshoot a lof of scenes from the season premiere because of the HD cameras.

Well… it's on youtube so it will look like shit.

Film sha're is best sha're, tv gets points for on-screen jugs

Edgy, kys

As far as the franchise goes, i would love to see the three series get either closure, or start a new show that ties them together, ends it and leaves the pathway open for a new series to start after that, which would unfortunately meddle in reboot territory. But fuck fag emmercuck, i don't want him involved at all. I'd accept a remake of the original film if it had the sg-1 retcons added tbh, or a fanedit.

Would have sex with both, they're pretty in the same league and they are still pretty and slim to this day.

Actually, regarding Emmerich, something sticking to the continuity of the movie might be cool. Actually dealing with the language issue instead of being Star Trek-y about it, the evil aliens as energy beings (although the Ori sort of touched on this) instead of snake parasites, etc.

A possible insight into this would be the tie-in novels that came out after the movie and before the show.

It was just a modified ancient egyptian dialect, jackson figured it out after banging sha're

While i won't deny emmerich had some interesting ideas for stargate 2, he should have jumped on it sooner than later. At this point, to pull a cuckquean kennedy and decanonize everything that isn't the movie is a big fuck you to 23 years of fans.

ell oh ell

The show went a little off the wheels when O'Neil was kicked upstairs, the whole Ori plot covering the last two seasons wasn't good enough to justify its continued existence. Atlantis, though of uneven quality, was decent enough IMO to demonstrate they could still do good work, but some sort of essential spark was lost, as in the case of Universe being absolute trash.

So far as closure is concerned, I think Ark of Truth did a good enough job. I'd be open to more SG-1 spinoffs if done with care, but a well done cinama-verse retcon or full reboot could very well be the best way forward.

Really, the only thing I could have wanted from the TV franchise that they didn't exploit satisfactorily was licensed vidya. The failure of the MMO project was irritating, but nothing compared to the fact that was the only game I'm aware of them ever attempting. 1997-2003 covers some of the best years for gaming, and even during the 2004-2010 cancer years many casual consoleshit genres with enough licensed flavor (Republic Commando, for instance) were still enjoyable.

Even after all these years, something like an X-Com ripoff would be pretty incredible, and quite possibly sell great numbers.

There was a mobile game a few years ago. They had all this crazy planning for it (I'm still waiting on the pc port) and iirc it got the chopping block big time. For some reason Stargate is cursed when it comes to vidya, iirc the few 90s games sold horribly.

Those were just unremarkable run-n-gun platformers (not even arcade ports) for another neat but random movie that wasn't some giant nerd phenomenon.

Funny that they were by Acclaim, who pumped out tons of middling stuff like that on 2D systems, but then (following Goldeneye's huge splash) suddenly turned into a 3D powerhouse with games like Turok, Shadowman, Extreme-G, and Forsaken, going on to form Retro and do Metroid Prime.

So Stargate Origins was announced

So this is how it all ends, not with a bang, but with complete shit

not only that, but besides that short-lived third person shooter from back in 2009/2010, the only other real stargate vidya we've had were source mods.

fucking source mods.

Is it a live-action show? I thought it was some cheap animated show.

gateworld.net/news/2017/07/mgm-announces-new-original-series-stargate-origins/
"Origins will be the fourth live-action, scripted series for the Stargate television franchise, which spans twenty years and more than 350 episodes."

Oh god… They're going to show Young Catherine as a stronk womyn saving the galaxy before O'neil, right?

It is the perfect fit for the franchise, why hasn't it happened yet?

There are so many things that contradict each other as well, like how "Young Catherine embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate" but it is also suppose to follow the TV cannon.

Things we know from the SG-1
Gate was uncovered in 1928 by Catherine's father
held under guard until 1939 when it was placed on a ship and sent to the US
US gets it working by a fluke and sends Ernest through in 1945, thinking they killed him, it gets shut down.
Catherine get the stargate program running sometime 1990s hiring Daniel Jackson who figures out how the gate symbols work.
In sg-1 The Torment of Tantalus Catherine goes with SG-1 through the gate to find Ernest, she is nervous and says it's the first time she has ever gone through the gate.
At the end of continuum Mitchel gets sent back to 1929 to stop baal from sinking the gate when it's being transported in the 30s

So she either has been lying all this time about knowing what the gate is and how it works, or the lazy writing mechanic that she got her mind erased at the end. Also keep in mind Earth doesn't have a DHD, and it took them 15 years to build computers that could interface and control/power the gate for it to work.

This just reeks of trying to make a quick buck, if they wanted a strong female lead, they already have Carter who has had years of character development, and isn't a Mary sue. They could have her flying around the Hammond exploring planets that where suppose to have gates, but can't get a connection too, or running the SGC. There still won't be a lot of gate travel, but it's less shit than this, and hell would make a better trek than STD

mod? i know there's a decent stargate mod for EaW

It seems like any game that has modding support gets some sort of stargate mod

somebody is making an unofficial game called stargate network

stargate-network.net/en/

it isn't licensed, so it maybe has a chance of actually getting somewhere, unless it gets C&D

You Don't have to alternate episodes in each season example sg1se8 ep1 sgase 1 ep 1 etc, because there isn't a lot of crossover, just some passing references here and there. so just watch the whole season of sg1 than go to sga, unless you really want to watch it as it aired.

The only exception is when you get to se 10 of sg1. There is the crossover episode “The Pegasus Project” (SG-1 Season Ten), which technically ought to be viewed after you pick up the resolution to Atlantis‘s second season cliffhanger with “No Man’s Land.”

...

I dunno why, but that one made me feel disgusted inside.

I'm sad now
Not entirely surprised though

Don't complicate things.

Alternate episodes like described above. It's the most easy, straight forward way to make sense of everything.

It is only one season compressed.

Or they do one even worse and make it some time travel/alternate timeline shit which would fuck up the universe in past, present, and future.

I'd say that it will involve Mitchel from the end of Continuum when he went back, and Catherine will save him somehow, and he'll have her promise to to mention any of this as to not alter the timeline

She's so fucking hot.

This amuses me.

Do you work at FN too?
t. probable co-worker

They liked the p90, because it was easy to film it being fired, due to how the casings where ejected.
There's also this
stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Micro_16_assault_rifle

will they finally reveal how the censors let them show a ten year old girls nude chest in season 1

pre-tits are no-tits, and nobody gave this many shits yet back then, how much SJW cum you guzzle today?

Stargate 20th anniversary video.

t. pedo apologist

aside from this being total horseshit, I suppose you'll tell me that bikini tops for girls are recent inventions, too?

...

Scanning the film elements is a pretty straight forward process if they've been maintained and stored properly. The problem with most of these tv series are that the CGI effects were rendered in low resolution in an interlaced tape master. They look horrid upscaled and producing new CGI effects for 100s of hours of an old tv series is cost prohibitive.

Paramount was willing to drop the coin for ST and TNG do this, but so far refused to upgrade DS9 and Voyager as they are much more CGI intense, and less demanded among fans.

Sci-fi series from this timeframe are going to struggle to get upgrades to blu-ray, or they will be hybrids of HD scanned film and upscaled special effect shots.

Honestly, I ever only gave it a wincing notice, like "was that a girl?" Looked like a dirty niglet boy that had been exposed to too much estrogen from the gould tainted water service.

Nothing in this film has me hitting pause to jerk off.

yeah i figured that had something to do with it. the effects in that video looked better than on the show from what i remember.

Stargate practically demands an XCOM-like

Yeah, even SGA was shot with HD cameras but the CG were still made in SD.
If I remember correctly it was only on SGU that they rendered everything in HD (they even remade the goa'uld mothership and shuttle with more details and reshot the "kawoosh" from evey angle possible in HD).

Well the other (main?) reason is that the TNG remaster didn't sell as expected.

That was true at first, I believe later seasons had the visual effects rendered in HD. I recall a later-season episode reusing some CG shots from season 1, and the audio commentary explaining that they had to be re-rendered for that reason.

I hope they're at least holding onto the assets, especially for the CGI. Even an SD BD release would be great for a lot of shows, since h.265 40-128Mbps would be nearly transparent compression, revealing more detail when upscaled than the DVDs.

Is the startgate show any good?

I mean the movie wasl shit, and i dont see how they could stretch that thing into 6 seasons wihtout it being ultra shit

It depends if they were done in-house or via another company.

10 seasons of SG1
5 of SGA
2 of SGU
Plus 2 movies.

How the fuck do I not remember that this show had tits?

17 seasons? yep its shit

16 GOOD seasons

Not counting the first season of Universe, that is shite

it was just the pilot , and showtime shoe-horned it in, in order to try and get a more adult audience. If you buy the directors cut now, it's not in there, among other changes.

picture related

Yeah I'm watching the first season now and it's nothing but filler episodes. I hope it picks up latter since I have some fond memories of this show.

season 1 is the weakest, as they where trying to figure out what kind of show they wanted. They started out as a a sort of monster of the week show and changed to a power creep series, described
Around the episode singularity is starts to pick up. Whenever I do a re-watch I usually only watch a few key episodes in season1 before going to season 2, because they build off them a lot latter.

...

It's only one episode.

Shepherd and McKay were the best part of Stargate.

SG-1 is just about the only long-running sci-fi show I can think of that remained consistently "pretty good" for its entire run.

SGA was kind of a mixed bag, a few interesting characters and ideas, but it never really captured my attention. SGU was just painful. I like Rush and Young, and the way those characters play off each-other, but all the other characters and shitty BSG drama and the all-shaky-cam-all-the-time cinematography just made me feel ill.

...

Why don't they create a new season where only Eli,rush, and Young survive some accident on episode 1?

Care to elaborate? Was it due to the whole tranny mod fiasco?

what are you talking about? film? it's a season.

dirty niglet boy? we're talking about cassandra here, she's obviously a fucking white girl. And they did show her topless.

Who the fuck are you thinking about?

diff user here. I just watched season 1 and I forgot what episode it was. I think it was when teal'c joined the crew.

I think the other user was talking about one of the kids aboard Ra's ship in the movie.

am I going to have to check to see if he's right?

one underage topless scene is already enough

More news about stargate origins.

This seems to imply that only the 1st out of the 10 10min webshorts will be abut Catherine in the 1920s.

When did Stargate stop being relevant?
