After Brexit, racist attacks has risen astronomically friends turning on friends because they foreign, nationalism is alive and thriving in modern Britain, and racists seem to think a vote to leave legitimized their beliefs. Why is this? I believe it was Vote Leaves emphasis on immigration which is where i get scared. Is this the start of "Feels not Reals" politics in the UK? How do Left-Leavers feel that, whilst "their" side won, it wasn't on their terms and that as a result, racism and nationalism is on the rise? Is this what you envisioned for Britain and its working class?

The British far-right would be racist whether they won or lost, and trying to blame Leave for them being racist is nothing more than cynical electioneering and sour grapes.

Of course, no evidence shows these attacks are a direct result of the vote, and of course racism existed before the vote, and would continue after it if we voted remain.
However, since the vote was announced, words like deportation and repatriation have become more accepted among the political dialogue, and since the start of the year, the police department which deals with race hatred had an increase of reports since the start of the year, a near %350 increase. This isnt islamphobia, its to EVERYONE.
A few days ago, James O'Brien had an elderly german woman call in say she was receiving horrible abuse from her neighbors, former friends of hers, and she didnt feel safe in her home. Ever since hes been flooded with peoples stories of everyday racism as a direct result of brexit, often those committing the racism saying they are voting leave.
Im just pointing out this is a problem, and whilst i acknowledge correlation is confirmation, its often that brexit is linked out these attacks

Was a big win for the Left even if the Right dominated the Brexit vote. We're not obligated to a bunch of shitty European laws regarding our economy.
Things such as being prevented to use public quantitive easing, having to cut public services if our inflation is over 4% and our debt is 60% of our annual GDP. Being prevented from buying public bonds and also not being able to run nationalised industry for anything other than commercial purposes.
Basically, in time to come if the UK can build actual socialism, then being out of the EU is gonna make it one hell of a lot easier. Even then, we can impliment much more progressive policies and less shitty ways to get out of the economic shitshow we're in.

I was against leaving the EU - there was much talk about "reclaiming our country" and very little about the economic impacts. While leaving the EU and its nasty neo-liberal laws is a great victory for us leftists, our political leadership is not even vaguely left wing, and I doubt it will be for some time.
Also, the basic premise of the EU, that nations whose economies are closely linked aren't going to roll out the tanks when things get heated, still stands.
If the government refuses to implement Article 50, we're looking at the possibility of being kicked out of the European Union, which would cause an unholy mess. As it is, we have no idea if European trading banks, such as Deutsche Bank or BNP Paribas will continue to be allowed to backdoor trade in Euros through London - if that stops in a less than controlled fashion, we're looking at a recession that would put the last one to shame. What's more, beyond Nigel Farage's meme of reinstating Anthony Eden's trade policy (yay commonwealth, boo the rest of the world), comment on trade policy has been sparse, and nobody has been able to explain how cutting off favorable trade relations with your largest market in order to prioritize other relationships would be remotely beneficial to our economy.
It's funny you should bring those up, because if I remember correctly they're not original EU laws, but World Bank/IMF strictures (Basel Accords I and II) that the EU decided it would copy.

UK too, im fairly rural so theres no one aside from old white people round me, so i could concede that with no 1st hand experience i cant prove the claims to be true. However the good ol interwebz shows graffiti attacks on cultural centres, old german woman having feces thrown at their house, NF, EDL and Britain First promoting repatriation and deportation. The media definitely hasnt helped with immigrant attitudes, thats something we can all see.

I personally dont have a problem with the over-reporting as long as it condemns the behavior. Besides, if we assume that %50 of those reports are fake, thats still nearly twice the amount of reports weekly. How likely is it that %50 of the reports are faked? not likely, it would probably be less than %5. I also dont see why someone would fake a racism report to the police. Surely that would be investigated, unless its another stitch up.

We never were obligated to EU laws about our economy. Those almost all applied only to countries using the Euro. What happened to Greece could never have happened to the UK.
