He's still having problems with perspective on realistic characters. But his recent comics starring the bear had a less obnoxious cartoony style. Reminded me of Bill Watterson in some way. So in a way he did improve.

His anatomy and over all proportions have improved immensely. Its less cartoony and his coloring isn't just half assed paint bucket fill ins.

Compared to what? Certainly not his university work. Faces are lopsided and wonky and the poses hold no weight, even though they're meant to be in motion.
His line weights vary needlessly, and light comes from different directions depending on what part of the picture you're looking at. His style being cartoony was never his problem to begin with.

Everything is still low-energy and looks like it's going to tip over. Dobson sets a high standard for the lower percentile of deviantArt, which is where he's made his home and where he's complacent being.

He will never be the "cartoonist" he dreams of being unless he puts his back into it, but he never will. It's not in the nature of the inflation fetish bear to do so.

How much actual studying do you do, user? Have you taken classes (actual classes, not just cancerous ones)? Have you look at anatomy books? Do you draw from references or real life? Those might help you.
You should also be drawing every day. Or at least, as much as you can manage. You should see improvement then.

I'm no professional but I can see a lot of improvement in my work within a year. It's also helpful to keep a sketchbook; it makes you feel good when you look back and see how you've changed once you finally finish the last page. It's also why so many people keep art blogs, even if tumblr is trash. I've had one for almost four years now. First pic is the first thing I posted. Second is one of my more recent things. Three years apart, about. Like I said, I'm no professional, but any improvement makes you feel good.

I used to frequent Animexpansion when CattyN was there making art like that Azumanga Daioh comic back during the Bush administration. I guess he's still stuck in that mindset. I cannot recall whether or not he was such a liberal ideologue or not then, but I do remember him posting in political topics.

He's a joke even within the fetish community, and essentially a living example of what not to be as an artist. Meanwhile more talented artists accept commissions for much less.

To be fair, he's improving. Just not much. And he's still nowhere he should be for someone his age with his education.

Case in point, just look at the first panel of the comic here where he's swinging the axe on the tree. That's similar to a pose for gently sinking a putt, not for swinging a fucking greataxe. No momentum whatsoever evident; his torso should be facing well right of where it's drawn here. His face should show something betraying effort, not something that expresses being pleasantly stoned. In the third panel he's casually carrying a gigantic fucking tree like nobody's business. The first and third panels make it evident that Dobson has never actually worked a single day in his entire life.

He's drawing backgrounds now, which is an improvement. His lines are no longer the single-width microns they used to be.

That's about as much praise as I can give him.
No matter how much he cleans up his linework or correctly he composes his characters or how nice his coloring gets from here on out, he will always remain shit because his work lacks appeal. It's as simple as that. There's just something about his efforts that void all appeal like a black hole. For instance, him drawing Steven Universe fanart; I mean, how can you invalidate the appeal from something as simple as SU character designs? I don't know, but Dobson manages it.

It's funny, because his original sketch was better than the final product. For some reason, the more he worked on it, the worse it became.

How can one man be so incompetent. Art isn't even hard to do; with no formal training you can be a great artist, you just need to understand what you're doing and practice good habits, he just has no fucking eye for what looks good or bad.

This is the most baffling Dobson picture I've seen. Holy shit. How is this possible ? The first two are actually not that bad at all, and he just goes with something that ruins the movement and the action… how does he do it ? You probably will never become a great artist, but you can still get to a point where you can draw as well as Dobson, anyone can if they have the discipline. The question is if you actually want it hard enough or not.

There's your problem. You don't actually want to be an artist, you just want people to view you as an artist. If you want to be famous just make a shitty YouTube channel or something, it's what all critics do because they lack the dedication, will, and ability to become actual creators and deal with the constant rejection, criticism, and minutia of making stuff.

The angle of the fist of Miss Muslim hand (which he obviously traced his hand to put in place) is wrong for punching someone.

Seriously do that pose yourself, there's no power or snap to the punch. Did she hit him with outside of the fist because you would break your fingers doing so. Also the angle it's at is suggesting its hitting the chin like an uppercut, knocking his head back yet the nose is exploding blood for some reason. If she was punching Trump while he is wearing the KKK hoody shouldn't the hoody be covered in blood since it covers the face? Also why is Trump wearing sneakers? Her expression doesn't really give off any sense of anger for punching someone in the face also. Her pose and how she's standing isn't correct to punching someone properly.

Trump's shadow isn't correct since his whole body and the hat would be connected like Miss Muslims shadow with the scarf. If the fist is the light source then the shadows around both Trump and Miss Muslim are wrong.

Again with the bad angle of punching. Hitting with the outside knuckles again breaking Statue's hand and frankly takes power away from the punch, no way it would do that much damage. Again Statue's face looks like she's been asked a question and thinking about not an expression of anger. Where is the explosion of blood coming from?

You can't have a little stream out of his mouth and the cheek just fucking explode THAT'S NOT HOW PUNCHING WORKS. I can't see if the pose is correct to look like a Karate straight punch because her fist is off panel.

Those first two are pretty decent. Heck, he could have cleaned up the second and it would've worked well just in black and white.

How the fuck did he think the third attempt was better? Even the close up shot of the hand holding the figurine being slightly off center in the third image looks better than the finished product. Even though it's still balancing on top of his fingers instead of being in a "pinch" hold in the second image.

Eh, looks like a southern long fist strike, same principle as a Jack Dempsey power lead or a Bruce Lee floating punch.
Of course, her hand being the size of a watermelon explains most of the power.
Still kind of a poor choice of technique for a superhero comic, where you're supposed to catch more dramatic movements at the end of their range of motion, the artist probably comes from a different tradition, like political or gag cartoons, as has been noted before, the other schools of cartooning, with the exception of animation, are poorly suited to heroic action.

As for Lady Liberty, the only questionable thing I can pick on is that from the angle, it's clear that Trump has been king hit from the side, and that French tart has obviously happy slapped him like a typical SJW.
