Webcomics or Web Cartoons

Hey guys,
I'm just wondering what sort of medium would these designs for better for?
I showed these off to you guys before on the writing thread and I'm wondering what I can do to help get this idea off the ground.

Webcomic and weeb trash. Good for nothing.

Hey you're the user from the OC thread, nice to see you still around.

I suppose Action adventure. Porn will more more views

I know that Porn=views but I am aiming for an Mystery Adventure sort of thing with a dash of action here and there

Going through each character:

They're from the same story tho… but from the looks of things Comic seems to be more favorable.

Would things make more sense if I put up their profiles from the OC thread?

...

Jolie Olivier, a talented sorcerer detective at MIST. She's cold and distant in appearance and has a no-nonsense attitude. She lives with her girlfriend, Trixie, who can crack a smile on her.
Having learned her skills from her Mother, Izzy, a Fairy who happens to be her superior, Jolie has the ability to summon her familiar, Bibi.

And here's a pic of Izzy for context… she's only 12 inches tall

I remember you, the Marietta one's new.
I'm still a sucker for Gale's legs.

I've noticed that those two are rather popular around here

A webcomic would be simpler. Asking if they'd be suited for animation just brings up the question of whether you can animate worth a damn. Can you?

Mining for opinions is nice and all, but at some point you have to get started for them to actually mean anything.

where to start? I'm rather new at this

Yes, ya dumb fuck.

Also, you're kinda stuck with webcomics with that look, unless you got someone who can do some animation(Likely flash) or some shit.

Practice your drawing style until you can make it intentionaly.

Kate Leth did that?

I'm not going to do what Kate Leth did…

Going by everything I've heard, just start writing. Eventually you find the rhythm you want for the series. And, when you do, go back, revise the stuff that doesn't work, start publishing, and go from there.

Thanks, getting started now

What sort of Script format do they use for Comics?

Never mind I found it.

Depends on the series focus you should start writing and drawing, don't be ashamed from taking amateur classes.
Also I meant that the guy drew Spike Spiegel in the middle of a wall without any tools.

I'm planning to do that, and I'm not ashamed to take amateur classes… Just looking for classes that doesn't talk about "diversity".

If they can draw you'll have to swallow it, I'm sorry but you'll need it., as long as his views don't interfere with his talent.
Example
CalArts actually teaches to draw properly, but companies want 'Fast mode', which in turn is used more and more to shove politics as fast as they come.
But ability is ability, if you really wanna draw you learn it.

Also both drawing and writing require patience of different kinds, drawing makes you angry and writing makes you sad.

I hear ya

Would this make for an interesting opening antagonist?

Ivan Kozlov, the Cybermancer. A notorious Sorcerer who experimented on himself to boost his powers. In order to do so, Ivan augmented his body with cybernetics to help siphon the life force of others. Now as the Vampiric Cybermancer, Ivan stalks Salem draining the life force of its citizens to satisfy his thirst for power.

He has no design at the moment… still working on that

Yeah

Also, I recommend writing movie like script rather than novel like, since both are visual medias, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun with it anyways.
I was gonna post a script if mine but… issues, can someone repost it here.

Nobody knows who did that, it's just slinging mud to attribute it to her.

I get a sense she's going to come out as a bitch and a mary-sue. Got anything that could knock down a beg or two? Maybe after every successful goal, something is always ruining her day or she's some sort of massive fuck
up that somehow manages to survive in her field? Also give her a different hat or take it off, it makes her look generic. >Ivan Kozlov, the Cybermance

He's just power hungry?

Pretty much, going for the simple story first.

The hell, why is my post fucked up?

Not sure, but I do plan to make Jolie more of a sorcerer who knows that Magic feeds off her life force so she doesn't even use it all that much since Magic in MIST tends to be more risky on Humans

Basically, I'm putting Limits to her magic and Magic as a whole in MIST

I got an idea, have her flunk magic school but see has enough school credits to go into lower level forensics at an equivalent community college. She gets talked behind her back for being a failure at finishing magic school and yet still insists on working in a career that would require it.

Here.

They way you describe it, it may seems like magic is riskier for humans than any other race.

So many typos in my post, why?

(Checked)

It is riskier on humans than most races… Fairies are OP in MIST

Tell me that it uploads now.

Yup

That's what I meant, just because scripts are formulaic doesn't mean that the formula restricts your writing style.

Magic's tied to one's metabolism so Mana's tied to calories essentially…

So magic's energy.
Well, that gives the cybermancer a lot of sense, but is far too mundane IMO.

I humorously thought of an image where Jolie was downing an entire buffet of food to stock up on mana when you said it was tied to calories.

You could expand on the metabolism idea, certain foods have certain effects.

Maybe create a series of illegal drugs that cheat the metabolism but have terrible consequences. Like Krokodil for wizards or something.

Well she loves the Elvis Sandwich

Ideas for the story bible then, thanks for the suggestion

Or spice from Dune

Strength of spirit maybe?
The stronger the spirit the stronger the magic, the stronger the will, the more stubborn, the least variants of magic you can learn?

So Basically, Shit that Speeds up your Metabolism is terrible for Magic users

I like it but I'm kinda following the Alan Moore belief that "Any cunt can do it"

Maybe it has its own advantages? Faster at doing spells, able to unlock charkras faster, but uses to much energy and causes extreme flatulence.

I meant burn through

Either way, this will help tie in to the "Salem Underground" story arc

Well, that was interesting for five pages.
What is going to be about?

also, is it bad that one of my characters has a shit fanbase because they're mostly tumblr people?

Trixie Torres, a Stage Magician and One Girl Rock Band. She's very energetic and outgoing in contrast to her girlfriend, Jolie.
Trixie often envies that Jolie can perform witchcraft which she's incapable of doing herself.

I propose that Beans be used as the go to quick energy source for sorcerers in a rush, on a budget, or when shits gonna get real!
BEANS
BEANS
BEANS
POPEYE THE CAN MOTHERFUCKER!

Thank you for that world building ad

God damnit, one thread, two threads.
Understand it already, just do your thing.

Is about a guy who's two persons at once but in different places, a shy cop with unusual tendencies to take care of prostitutes and a sexual deviant murderer going trough an emotional crisis.
I'm a self-hating pedo.

Sorry, just really worried

Sleeveless Pokemon Trainer Chan
and her pet Ratatoskr, Tusker

Don't listen to them, stick around here and make sure to never tell them. Don't end up how Yanderefag betrayed Holla Forums and left for Reddit only to get Yandere Simulator censored by SJW's.

Also widen her hips and make her albino, don't do the generic hair style like that.

Sounds familiar.

...

Bean wizards end up with fly cloud familiars 99% of the time, even if they don't want a familiar

Saving this.

YOU FOOL THATS HIS SECRET WEAPON!

I still get irrationally angry about that.

Here's the OC thread:

Also the flaming one reminds me of the skeleton from mistery skull video, and that purple thing on the girl´s hair screams "totally not twilight sparkle"

bump

We have the OC thread now.

You should probably do some redesigns OP.

Writing a comic on your own is much more feasible than creating your own webtoon. If you really like animation, then you could maybe do a five-minute episode once every two months, but you could do a couple pages a week with a comic and tell the same story quicker, and with a whole lot less stress.

That's not even taking into account the fact that you're going to have to get voice actors for everyone, which is going to involve having to pay them and coordinate all of their schedules. Not even mentioning the endless grind that is video editing, good luck with that.

And if you try to get a bunch of collaborators, o-ho-ho, get ready for the coordination issues you're already gonna be having with your voice actors get even worse. My brother tried doing that once, and it fell apart completely before the first episode got finished.

You're way better off just doing a comic. Much less work & much more control.

You can always use the webcomic as a step up to a cartoon, like Gold Digger, Atomic Robo and Xombie did.
At any rate, it's something that you can finish on your own without anyone's help, serves to hone your craft, publicise your creation, and you end up with a script and storyboard for the animation.
