The people Amazonians are based off probably weren't a whole culture of women, but there was a tribe out there that had various female warriors that shocked the Greeks.

That said there have been numerous cases in history after battles people checking bodies of dead soldiers and finding out some of them were women, this was obviously more common before the days of routine medical exams, but even then a few slipped by such as the case of Mollie Bean during the civil war.

This is where you're really going to make your money. There's plenty of them on tumblr, so I'd still suggest you get one– there's a reason why basically every artist has one. It's almost like having a full portfolio that people can share around. It's the easiest way to gain attention for stuff like commissions as long as you know how to tag properly.

You have to find your niche and run with it. Get good at doing furry/fetish art if you have to. Or if you want the typical tumblr crowd, find a specific few fandoms and draw shit like yaoi or a certain ship that you'll get well-known for. You'll get more attention then than if you were to do one thing.

You have to make sure to have something like a society6 page for people to buy the art you post, and maybe a donation page or a patreon. If you really wanna make money off shit, this is how you do it. You'll see this set-up with other artists on tumblr that make money off their shit. And occasionally whine about how terrible of a situation you're in in a post and beg for donations so it gets spread around. I see that crap a lot, too.
