There were frequent reports from a while ago that google refused to hire anyone that went against their politics, and almost certainly used gmail to track web history to do that. It's probably gotten a lot worse.
*Particular case I remember was annon getting an email from his right-radical fishing buddies on his gmail, suddenly getting his website dropped from google advertising with HR comments that he was a bad person .
