Question that don't deserve their own threads

I want to make a storytime, anything you guys want to read?

I just saw someone mention a comic called Crossed, and that looks moderately interesting.
Also, you can never go wrong with the old stuff.

Fuck Fairyland.
The whole thing.

It's edgy crap. Nothing good about it.

Which issues in particular?

You mean the comic named I Hate Fairyland?

I just have a rape fetish, honestly.

I think he meant that.

Post some Usagi Yojimbo. Been a while since it's been storytimed here

I wouldn't mind seeing Den, or the first Marshall Law series, or Steve Gerber's Foolkiller series.

What else haven't I seen here?
Big Blown Baby, Ronin, Damage Control, The Ballad Of Halo Jones, Shatter, Batman: Digital Justice, Destroyer Duck, Panther's Rage, Niteside & The Rock, Tomb Of Dracula, Camelot 3000, The Nail, ClanDestine, The World Below, Fight Man, Major Bummer, RanXerox, Elementals, Shugga, Kirby's Silver Star or Captain Victory, Viz…

This

Or some of the Adam Warren cape books, like Iron Man: Hypervelocity, Live Wires, Galacta, or Titans: Stone, Scissors, Paper.

Or that Deadpool teamup with Gothic Lolita.

Or Longshot Saves The Universe. That was by the Gwenpool guy, who did Dr. McNinja.

Or Nth Man, that was really underrated. Or Normalman. Or the original Tick series. Or some Badger, Nexus, Flaming Carrot, original Howard The Duck…

I agree but will admit that the webcomic and the Quisling arc were pretty good to me. Everyone keeps saying Wish You Were Here was the best story from Crossed though.

Tbh I really I want to see more storytime from Franco Belgian comics that rarely shown here. In English of course.

Pls no, I read some part and it's just edgy bullshit. Also if you like rape fetish there's an actual hentai manga that actually based on an infamous real life event

So are yoj going to storytime yet?

Two questions:
Why did manga became more popular in the US instead of European comics? Odds were stacked against it, with greater language barrier and cultural differences.

What will be the next big trend in American comics? It used to be political 70s, experimental and gritty 80s, extreme and "gritty" 90s, edgy 00s, social justice 10s. What do you think will be next?

Storytime Powergirl

Because American comics have sucked for a long time, they're a niche market that only appealed to certain demographics, very little variety compared to manga, and gays sell well with young women.

Because manga cater to much more wider audience. They cover a lot of genres. Want adventure? Go get One Piece. Want Mystery? Go get Case Closed. Want football? Go get Eyeshield 21. Want corporate takeover and how to fire an old employee because he disputed with the new CEO? Go get Chief Division Kosaku Shima.

I'm not saying that American comics are devoid of creativity. The problem is the monopoly held by the two giants. They keep churning mostly tired capeshits with decades old characters. Go to Darkhorse or independently published comics for better comics.

But it's not a question of manga vs American comics, but popularity of Manga vs European comics in the U.S. Why did manga succeed while European comic books are still a rarity?

Why didn't European comics fill niche that manga did? They have romance, adventure, war stories, erotica, historical books, crime and detective stories, fantasy, horror, science fiction etc. Popular European books like Thorgal, Metabarons, Skydoll, Tintin, Asterix, Nikopol Trilogy, and Blacksad are little know among comic book readers in the U.S.

Feel like running through a volume or two of Locke and Key?

To further add to this, the manga industry has turned appeal into a cold, hard science. The editors at major manga, the ones working on the most successful series of all time at least, have been behind some of the decisions to change the direction of a series, add certain characters, change others, and so on.

Incidentally, they are also behind the worst decisions, like keeping certain series running or insisting that an author drag out their series even further, in which case, you end up with the shit that happened to Naruto with the Ninja war arc that last for years and years and thoroughly ruined anything good left in the series.

Over in America, the editors are seemingly clueless and have struggled for decades to figure out how to make people buy their shitty picture books, which has driven them to believe that pandering to SJWs and feminists is now the only way to "fix" their comics.

Yeah i'll try to see what i can find from what was mentioned and i'll make a thread for it.

Thanks

I'd guess that anime and manga started getting more popular at just the right time. American comics were starting to wane in popularity when manga came onto the scene, and people publishing European comics probably failed to capitalize on this opportunity, resulting in few people realizing certain european comics existed. Japanese comics were probably also boosted by anime becoming popular, so people would check out a manga after hearing that their favorite anime had a better version on paper. They were also sold in volumes instead of having to purchase one issue at a time, like american and european comics.

Don't tell me there's hentai about the girl who was kidnapped and tortured?

Anyone have those french drawings of rats from a while back?

They were very violent, but had nice style.
I wasn't able to save them before the thread died.

Will Chilefag ever translate or at least post El Siniestro Doctor Mortis? He brought it up a few times earlier this year, but nothing came out of it.

Simple, because Japan created an environment that allows a lot of manga to crop up at the same time thus allowing for larger option we can choose. Also a lot more enterpreneurs interested in importing anime and manga due to exposure and marketing.

European just need more marketing and advertising to sell their comics overseas. They thought European market is enough.

Yep. And Not just tortured, she was killed and her body dumped. The doujinshi is the most hated hentai even for the most hardcore hentai fans

Editors are so detached from the actual results of their decisions that they've essentially become a cargo cult, they enact certain rituals, and expect that sales will follow.
But they've always been like that.
Hell, there used to be that rule in place at DC that a book sells better if you have any of the following on a cover:

Gorillas
Fire
Motorcycles
Cover type asking the reader a question
The hero crying
Dinosaurs
Purple

Link?

Son, there are places in the world you can visit, more musics you can listen to, and porn & hentai you can fap to. But no, not this one. Keep this one far far away. You will thank me later.

user, no.
There are some things you can never unsee.

Can't be that bad, it's just a bunch of pixels on a screen scanned from ink on paper. Besides, nips can't into realistic anatomy.
And how can I thank you if I don't know how bad it is yet?

You'd be better off with BABYFUCK IS ALL RIGHT! I'M HUGE! I'M HUGE! IT'S AAALLLL RIGGGHHHHT!

Fine fine, sorry i asked.

"Shin Gendai Ryoukiden - Schoolgirl in Concrete" by Waita Uziga. Then read the Wikipedia article about Junko Furuta, the victim in the case that inspired it.

I've been meaning to look for my Ash vs Freddy vs Jason comics. Would someone happen to have them? They were a fun read and very gory.

some are uploaded to youtube, I believe one thread had a link.

Finish the Jonesy Storytime!!

This

Where was the storytime stopped?

Is there any site where i can read comics that would world on a potable device?

What year did the "Batman is an urban legend" mandate start? And how utterly retarded was it at the time?

seconded
It really doesn't work very well

I could understand editors saying, "Try to portray Batman as an urban legend. If it's a detriment to the story, ignore it," because Batman's schtick only works if people don't know who he is exactly. Once criminals know he won't ever kill, he becomes a lot less frightening. But pretending in a Justice League story that no one knows he exists while getting congratulated on the White House lawn is idiotic.

Even that would only work in the early stages of his career

Didnt they already do it in the flm of batman year one.

The point is the "urban legend" rule is supposed to apply to Batman at any given point in time, even as a well-known member of the Justice League and a public figure with action figures

That's fucking stupid. So when JL members come out to the public for some speech and hand waves people going to saw Batman and said "Oh ignore him, he's just an urban legend"
