I really dug this story, the fight "choreography" wasn't perfect, but damn did I enjoy it.
rarely is a cover a huge spoiler AND completely misleading. but I do like it.

Thanks user

Enjoying barbarian stuff.

Is everyone in that world a dick? the peasants were saved, just to try killing the one who saved them. Alright, he is a barbarian conqueror, but still.

They're filthy peasants, what do you think?

Damn peasants… yet it would be sad to kill them. What use do peasants have that doesn't involve killing them?

Food

Well, the woman just had a child. She could be milked.

and a letters page. if ya like this, maybe next time I'll post the ads as well.

here's the letters page ABOUT that issue

Thanks OP

did you even read it?

Sorry for bumping an old thread, I want safe this comic. Btw can someone story time black and white John Carter comics?

Huh, why wouldn't I have?

were there black and white John Carter comics?

I remember an article about old comics with classic black and white cheesecake artworks. I'm not sure which one, it's either Tarzan or John Carter.

How about the other REH heroes, like Kull and Solomon Kane?
Man, Kane was a beast. I head a collection of his stories my dad had when I was a kid and it freaked me out. Wings in the Night, The Moon of Skulls…

I mean, Solomon Kane got so angry he choked a ghost.
Have you ever been so angry you choked a ghost?

Fuck yeah, nothing comfier than finding some Conan. The last in-hand savage sword I remember reading was one where Conan was fleeing some pursuers or just wandered into a large cylindrical ancient shaft that he eventually learned was filled to the brim with ancient vampire tombs. I think what struck me was there was no explanation or expose as to what they were or where they came from. just here are these fucking things good luck. Just struck home that the world Conan lives in is old and vast.

Now we are talking about barbarians. Is Gor anything besides overfollowed BDSM porn? the idea of barbarians living in a world controled by aliens being taken from earth sounds somewhat fun.

Also, Conan was at first in books, right? just looking for the rightful barbarian experience and not sure if I should read the books.

Howard was an associate of Lovecraft if that makes things interesting at all

gutenberg.net.au/ebooks13/1303751h.html

Conan came from the pulps, same as H.P Lovecraft, C.L. Moore, Robert Bloch, and Clark Ashton Smith.

Funny, the thing you don't get from the movies and comics is that Conan is pretty close to a genius in certain fields, like linguistics, and his adventures are driven more by boredom and frustration with his own peoples' lack of imagination.

But I guess "YOU KILLED MY FATHER!" sounds better than "I'M REALLY BORED! AND I THINK I WANT TO BE A KING!".

It's funny, when he finally becomes a king, he's really easygoing and lowers taxes, builds up the army, and generally does a good job, but everybody hates him for being a barbarian, and he just trolls them by putting his feet up on the table and pretending not to be able to read, and groping the serving girls.

I think "everyone" hates him because he doesn't give the upper class as many privileges and rewards as they want. That's why their constantly trying to betray him, as often happens with good rulers who have very small ruling coalitions

Would explain a couple things.

Is there image limit for this thread because I really want to a story time about that Solomon Kane choking a ghost here.

Correction: I don't have the comic I'm just hoping someone going to storytime it

Oh, that was "Moon Of Skulls", IIRC.
I don't know if it was turned into a comic, I don't think Solomon ever took off in comics like Conan did.
I love the Solomon stories, maybe even more than Conan. He's basically Conan born in the wrong time, fooling himself into thinking that his lust for adventure and slaughter is really a puritan's crusade against piracy and black magic. But where Conan is a raging bull, Solomon is implosive and cold in his fury. I don't think even Conan could have pulled off the ghost choke…

You can read the original at Gutenberg with the rest of Howard's work, if you want.

Ah thanks, never thought Gutenberg got comic archive. Also sorry for the late reply I only have a tablet to reply to this now.

Oh, it's the original short stories, not the comics.
I don't think Gutenburg would carry the comics, as they are still under copyright with Marvel. As it is, I think only Australian Gutenberg carries Howard for some reason.

Still, one of my favourite authors.
The Solomon Kane movie was pretty good. Again, like Conan, they had to give him an actual reason for being such a blood knight, but the actor they chose put in a heavyweight performance, and got to use his actual, Cornish accent to boot.

bump

Hoping for the same
