unreddit and ceddit don't actually keep archives of anything. They rely on the fact that reddit itself doesn't actually delete things when mods or admins remove posts or threads. When you go to look up a deleted post, what the sites are really doing is sending a query out to reddit for the post data, and then displaying whatever reddit comes back with. In this case, it seems like if a user deletes their posts and account, neither of those sites can pull the data from reddit anymore.

This is why archiving sites are so crucial.

Well, from the article on the Oversight committee site, it looks like they ordered reddit to preserve all records of that post, and reddit's own policies say that they have a 90 day data retention policy or something to that effect. So I'm assuming that they have 90 days worth of backup rotation archiving the entire contents of the site.

Stuff that gets deleted by the filters may or may not make it into the database and be archived - if it's acting like a pre-filter on the post and it never hits the DB it'll never get backed up. Edits to posts should be saved but that depends a lot on how their records are structured.

I'm really hoping that Chaffetz, Gowdy, and Meadows smell blood in the water and go after Combetta as hard as they can. And I hope even more that going after him leads to further investigation of Shillary.

I hope Uwe Boll serves him the subpoena.

I believe that changed after the 1st of this year. I can't remember the details but the retention went to 6 months. I hope reddit admins understand the serious crime of withholding data or lying to feds.
