Learn CS, programming and math. Go to uni, get a PhD. Find a partner and found a tech startup. ??? Profit.

user, don't give up on being truly happy yet.
Becoming a gentooman for becoming a gentooman won't lead you anywhere and eventually the "void" will start to bother you even more.
Listen to , really.
Even if you think your brain isn't "that fast" and you failed your first year of CS twice. Try to find new ways of somewhat achieving the same thing you'd get out of University though other means. It's not impossible, and you don't need to be SMART. Or try to change the way your mind fundamentally thinks about about University and your efforts dedicated to University ( "Why am i taking a CS course?", "What do i want out of this?" ) and try again.
Focus on not getting stuck in a cycle of procrastination, and have your productivity focused on things related to your goal.
No, CS courses just suck and bore you to death, you have to learn on your own, by googling everything you don't understand.
Lincoln Campbell
Is it really that easier in the US? In my experience of French public university, I wouldn't say the academic standards were particularly high. However the workload was sometimes insane, and you're on your own a lot because the profs never give a fuck about you, except if you're the prof's little thesis pet. When you reach doctoral studies it gets better because you're in proximity of professors and other doctoral students. Uni was an exercise of endurance and autonomy, and if you can't learn to do that fast you're fucked. I had prior knowledge of programming before entering and it has served me greatly.
David Sanchez
I'm no psychologist (and I'm sure neither is anyone else in this thread), but the thing I like about Free software is that you can get your hands dirty, you can start tinkering, and then from tinkering you advance to being able to actually make something. Maybe being able to create something yourself will get you to feel better.
Get a Unix machine, it doesn't have to be Gentoo, Ubuntu is just fine. Then learn using the shell first, from there on pick a programming language and learn it. My recommendations for languages:
- C if you want a small in simple language that's close to the metal. Great if you want to sink your teeth into the lower levels - Python if you want a simple language that allows you to get things done on a high level. If you have a problem domain there is probably already a Python library for it. - Lua is not very useful on its own, but it's great when embedded in a C program. - Scheme is used often as a neat academic toy, but the GNU Guile and Racket languages (both built upon Scheme) can be used for real-world programming on their own. Chibi-Scheme is meant to be embedded like Lua. Scheme is a very small Lisp language and gives you an interesting new perspective into programming. It is also used in the SICP book.
I would recommend either C or Python as your first choice since they are more commonly used and can produce useful things on their own, but it won't hurt to pick another language. Just pick one and learn it, once you are proficient enough you can go learn another one.
>>>/christian/ And I'm not even joking, the board owner claimed to be Terry himself, but I don't know if it's true. That said, Terry is obviously pretty unhinged from mental disorder, so you should not take him as an example to live by.

Computers are tools. Computers will never fill the void. If that's what you want, get into academia.
Boo fucking hoo. Either put the effort or admit you don't really want it that much.

You don't need university to do cool things, if you want to be a sysadmin going to university is a waste of time. You can be a programmer without going to university or you can learn CS without going to university. The thing is can you put up learning everyday for couple of years ? If yes you should go to university if no you should choose something else than computers or find a comfy sysadmin job.
Samuel James
What's the best way to become a sysadmin, then?
Oliver Ward
The sysadmin profession is a kill. Why would you even want in?
get some Linux certifications then apply for a job as a sysadmin

And yeah I also think you should try >>>/christian/ too. Jesus gives a lot of people newfound purpose in life. I honestly think a lot of people in this modern generation would be far less aimless with a strong moral base like Christianity. Good luck user! Just keep trying at a better day.

>I also think you should try >>>/christian/ too. While I agree that there is no god but YHWH, and that Jesus is His Messiah, /christian/ is arguably the biggest joke Christianity ever known. It's full of arrogant Catholics deusvult LARPers who can't stand criticism, and vols try to take over the board every few months. I was banned twice in ways that directly contradicted the rules (including one permaban for which I have no idea if I'm still banned because I've changed my router since). Also, it's full of Holla Forumsacks. Hell no, I've had more civilized discussions about Jews and Jesus on 4/pol/ than /christian/.
I have no idea what /christ/ is like, though. It's not active enough to keep my attention.
If you need to have faith, you'll have more arguments for God's existence than most likely from all Christians you'll ever meet here: youtube.com/watch?v=Uulm9rjsCeU (about 4 hours in total)

I found God in math. I used to be a turbo fedora lord. I believe that math is literally the word of God. Math is the only verifiably true and constant thing in this world. Math is not begotten of this world; the world is begotten of math. Its certainty has always reassured me.

Some things can be true, but it's provably impossible to prove that they are true. That does not make them any less true though.
I'll just elaborate that I know what it's like to be a sadbrain. For me, I was never sad or hopeless. I was very confident in myself. I felt directionless and life seemed pointless. I became more open minded and mature, so I took off my fedora forever. However, I knew becoming religious simply for a sense of direction would be shallow without the belief. Despite being less judgemental of Christians, I now respected them too much to pretend to be one. Even now, I don't really believe, but I've learned to see the perfection of this world in math. Through math, I realized that this life was not a result of random chance; everything happened exactly the way it was meant to. This is reassuring to me. I still can't say I believe in the God of the Bible, but I see that such a perfect thing can possibly be true. Is it really true though?
Thomas Brooks
Ah sorry, I'm sort of a beginning Christian. I haven't been on /christian/ much other than a few quick viewings, I figured it was a decent enough community. I'll check out /christ/. Thanks man. These days this is probably true. The average American now has to take all sorts of brainless option classes. In "current_year", many universities are starting to require diversity training, so on top of learning math and computer science, you have to grapple with how 'ebil whitey' plucked the nigger out of the jungle and taught him civilization. Even though this nig should by all means be running around the African plains with a bone through his nose and a crude spear in one hand, he is you equal and you should feel guilty if your imaginary quantities of privilege oppress and economically disenfranchise him. The nigger mind cannot calculate a determinant, but diversity is strength goy and you'd better make sure all your future development and especially management teams are inclusive. I digress...
Charles Mitchell
Only really dumb people actually see kek as anything other than a joke. It's more of a 4cuck thing I believe.

Math emerges exactly the way it is from the most basic premises that are necessary to make anything happen at all on any level whatsoever. How can there be meaning behind it?

surefire depression remedy steps: 0. Go to church on Sundays. Read "The Bible" 1. Clean your bloody room. Throw out anything that means nothing to you anymore. Read "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up". 2. Get in shape. If you're fat, diet until nothing jiggles. If you're skelly, eat something and lift something heavy! Read "/fit/ sticky" 3. Stoicism. Read "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius.
Logan Flores
About the diet, to anyone who is taking this advice: diet is good, but absolutely starving yourself will probably make you even more depressed. As for skellies, I don't think I need to tell you not to eat too much. I also have a low appetite, so I know it's tough to eat more.
Carson Rogers
People like you are why diversity training is needed. There is no place for racism in Holla Forums, so >>>Holla Forums and never come back.

Yeah, diet is a big one. Sad not everybody realizes just not eating like shit can have a major impact on diet That's why I became vegetarian
Diversity is sure doing great for the western world! Lets see all those ISIS attacks in Nationalist countries like Japan. Wait they don't exist there...
Cooper Anderson
Diversity isn't terrorism. Europeans aren't having babies anymore, so new blood has to fill the void. Japan has a low birthrate, so they will probably open up in a few decades too.
Jace Richardson
No, Japan will never fall for this trick. They were already xenophobic, but now the west has confirmed them to be right. They will be even more xenophobic.
Nathan Adams

Connor Phillips
Even the worst predictions state Japan's birthrate will decline from 130 million to about 110 million by 2060
Japan is a country roughly comparable in size to the US state of Montana
20 million in 50 years user. A country the size of Montana. That's not an issue, its a goal to actually work towards. And western media is going to try and use it as a vehicle to force Japan to "Diversify" its workforce.
And I'm sorry, but what about those terrorist attacks in Japan again? You know, the ones that never happen?
Levi Mitchell
It doesn't matter how backwards Japan wants to be though, the fact is Europe is becoming increasingly diverse and we have to make sure the youth are well equipped to handle the problems of tomorrow. Diversity training in Holla Forums is really important, because for a large part, we really will be passing the reigns to people who don't look like us. I'm actually excited to see how different it will be. The iPhone opened up computing to an entirely new demographic, and now most people don't even need a computer, there's an app for everything.
What is sarin gas in your subway? Terrorism knows no color. The UK had a white Irish bombing problem.

No one can seriously be this retarded. Population replacement has already proven to be a sham and it has no economic benefit whatsoever.
Let the welfare state collapse anyway.
Joshua Torres
If there's anything that makes people go angry and/or depressed is by identifying themselves with something, thinking that identity equals a purpose.
Just take a look at some of the oversensitive loonix faggots in here, or the average SJW for that matter. All they really have is that thing they identify themselves with, and all they end up doing is angrily shilling it and/or flipping their shit over the other identities (for no other reason than them being different), demanding safe-spaces where they won't hear opposing opinions, etc, or attacking people who have. It's a life of impotent anger, frustration and depression.
Shake off that imagined identity, so you won't be bound by it anymore. Find a positive purpose instead.
Starting with installing windows
Eli Perry
I was only pretending to be retarded, and the bait was quickly recognized. I do think I provided a good synthetic liberal though, that really is how they see the situation.
Ryan Adams
If you're installing Windows to distinguish yourself from the loonix identity, rather than because it happens to be better for your particular set of needs and values, then you're building a meta-contrarian identity on top of the loonix identity instead of truly breaking free.

OP, I used to suffer from crippling depression while working on the PhD. One of the helpful things was to change my diet.
Try a ketogenic diet for the summer, at least 3 months. Eat as much fat and protein as you wish, don't eat carbs (i.e. bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc). You're French, eat meat and cheese all day as much as you want, drink plenty of water and eat some green veggies.
i respect vegans who are simply against animal abuse, but vegans who claim their diet increases lifespan and reduces disease are pure retards.
don't forget to cut sugar out. keto diet did wonders for me too.

There were terrorists attacks in Japan during the 90s from some retarded Japanese Christian organization. It's almost as if extreme religious obsession makes people do extreme, stupid, things to appease their cult masters... No wait, it totally has to do with skin color even though there are no terrorist attacks in South America even though they have a huge Muslim community. The US and Europe are so obsessed with terrorism and race, but most of them happen in the Middle East, were organizations use them to obtain political power through religious zealots. This has nothing to with your retarded conception of "race", but with extremist ideologies and evil people trying to obtain and maintain power.
People on smaller Holla Forums boards (ie bunkers/alt imageboards and >>>/polk/) tend to be into self improvement type stuff. >>>Holla Forums is full cuckchan now though, so don't even bother with it for serious discussion beyond happening threads.
Isaac Flores
Ahmed, it's time to stop drinking. You know that's absolutely haram right.

You could at least pretend you have done any research.
Zachary Perry
No, it won't. Japan is overpopulated already. This eternal population growth you commies push for because it makes money for your masters is bullshit. The planet cannot take it and the people gain nothing from it. The only people who profit from it are billionaires. But they don't have Japan by the balls and most players in Japan are against it. Japs are also pretty race-aware.
Yeah, it was plenty of years ago and I don't think they miss the attacks. Skin color is simply one of the many effects of genetics. And have you ever been there? South America has pretty much no mudshits. Mudshits are attracted to two things: free money and consequence-free rape. South America is pretty poor so the gibs aren't that good and due to the patriarchy rape still isn't considered "part of their culture and therefore ok to do here."
Gavin Myers
The Sarin attack was made by a cult founded by some Japanese idiot claiming to be Jesus Christ.
I've been there most of my life. Muslims are known in South America to own many, many stores (particularly textiles and food) and to be very wealthy. Again, no terrorist attacks there done by Muslims. Not only that's a retarded argument since skin color is only controlled by a couple of genes, it would also mean that every single person in the world wants to attack the US and Europe. If that were true, why are terrorist attacks such a recent thing? The answer has a lot to do with complex socio-politcs in the middle east in and the western culture than "hurr, skin color".
South America and Europe have suffered terrorist attacks in the past by groups like FARC, ETA, MBR-200, etc. all these with political agendas to either separate part of the nation or to establish communism. See a pattern here? There is a political agenda behind every terrorist attack, not just "hurr, they're non-white" (whatever that's supposed to mean) or "hurr, they hate FREEDOM". This either means that 1. terrorists gain money after blowing themselves up; or 2. it is impossible to amass wealth as a middle- or high-class foreigner in a poor country. Only a retard would say any of those things. I don't know what the fuck you were trying to say here or if this was supposed to be a joke. South America is very patriarcal and Macho. There's more rape, prostitution and domestic abuse than in the US or Europe, combined. Especially in rural areas.
South America and most of Asia are shitholes, but they've done a way better job at integrating different "races" and religions than Europe and the US.
Colton Carter
whats with people and recommending meditations? it's super boring and utterly useless. the idea of stoicism in general seems to be trying to pretend you're not a human. only pseuds recommend that trash. if you want to read a pathetic self help book just muster up the courage to be honest with yourself and buy a self help book. don't buy some dude's 2000 year old diary pretending you're learning philosophy

What he's trying to say is: if a muzzie rapes a girl (or a thousand, cf. Rotherham) in Western Europe, SJWs be like "its his culcha", he gets away with a slap on the wrist and goes on his merry way.
If a muzzie rapes a girl in South America, her boyfriend/brother/father/uncle/neighbour goes "raping? my conchita? in my barrio?", starts seeing red, muzzie loses a tooth or ten, gets broken nose, etc etc, and doesn't rape anyone much anymore.

Study some body stretching routines. If you're doing it properly, you can easily take up hours of your day when doing it. This brings me to yoga. The mystic Hindus found a connection between their spiritual state and body stretching; the Hindus practice yoga in order to worship their gods. If you think yoga exercises is the path for you, note that you don't have to focus (meditate) on the worship but note that yoga instructors will be guiding you to do that worship whether they know it or not.
What I like to do is when I'm practising stretching meditation, I like to meditate on the near future about how I intend to move from location to location. I use this time to weigh the cost of going somewhere and the sort of activities I can achieve while I'm there. I like to budget 30 minutes to this routine and I don't follow any yoga routine, it's just a random bunch of stretches that I feel like doing at that moment.
