Anyway, re: the topic. Video files are just data, they don't open connections on their on. The player has to do that. You should think about this when choosing a player, picture viewer, pdf reader, and so on. There's a lot of botnet software out there. In general, the simpler they are, and the less features they have, the less chance of them being botnet. But that's just a general rule of thumb, you have to actually verify this by checking the code and running tcpdump on an upstream router.

It's still too risky to simply fiddle around with command line options, because one day you'll fuck up.
Just to be sure, you should use a dedicated Tor computer, and have it connected via ethernet jack (not wifi) to a dedicated Tor router that enforces all traffic to be routed through Tor, no exceptions.
Some people will be tempted to use VMs, but that's not good enough.
