So Marxism is pretty much a religion right?

So Marxism is pretty much a religion right?

If a revolution fails and is stopped in its tracks by capitalists, the people behind the revolution are revered and it is generally believed that only if the revolution succeeded things would have been Utopic. Luxemburg and Allende etc

If the revolution succeeds, it's clearly a successful example of socialism until it inevitably collapses, then it wasn't socialism at all. See Soviet Union or Venezuela.

My question to you is, since you are clearly predisposed to religious and magical thinking, why don't you join an actual respected religion instead of a Marxist? Are you all just edgey teenagers that hate your parents, but long for a religion nonetheless?

lmao now there's a new one

oh, OP. it's a shame that you'll never know how stupid and predictable you are

"Ideology: They do not know it, but they are doing it."
t. Marx

Not anymore than Capitalism.

lmao

Probably just b8, but I'll bite.

No, I'd say neoliberalism is closer to a religion.
No. This meme needs to die. Marxism is a rejection of utopianism.
No. The Soviet Union and Venezuela had tons of critics on the Left even before they "failed". While the Soviet Union has now and in the past had supporters who thought it was a good example of socialism, almost no one thought Venezuela was socialism, that's a bad neoliberal meme.
Maybe I'll become a neoliberal and start treating the Market as a benevolent diety :^)

Way to have never read any actual Marxist analysis OP. This isn't how we characterize or view past socialist attempts.

in your own words, describe socialism op

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Müntzer

In his final confession under torture of May 1525, Müntzer stated that one of the primary aims of himself and his comrades was ‘omnia sunt communia’ – “all things are to be held in common and distribution should be to each according to his need”.[37] This statement has often been cited as evidence of Müntzer’s ‘early communism’;[38] but it stands quite alone in all of his writings and letters. Thus, it is far more likely to have been a statement of what his captors feared than what Müntzer actually believed. Indeed, even at a very late stage, Müntzer still accepted some form of social hierarchy, based on functions bound up with the work of God, rather than inheritance.

Religious origins of Marxism.

what

And what makes a religion actual and respected?
How many people believe in it?
If the state accepts it? Then, if it doesn't challenge the status quo?
If it has a "God"?

Um, there are actual religious people on this board.

Actually I agree with this but I don't think that it's bad. I am a presbyterian so I don't think that it's an either or. Marxism is religious not because of it's "utopianism" but rather the method of revolution and historical movement needing a faith and to an extent a ontotheological praxis found in Marx's critique of political economy. Also I feel like most historical communists were not as "religious" as the modern marxist theorists. An example is Badiou and Zizek appealing to christian interpretation.

I think what marxist attempts to do however, in their critique of ideology though is to show almost everyone is religious.

Also, I think that marxism isn't utopian in the normal sense, it's a critique of the concept of the "end of history" concepts that people like Fukuyama push. The critique of political economy posits that global capitalism simply isn't a force that rationally aligns to human needs or desires. It simply offers an alternative to where history may take us next.

Historical Materialism = Lurianism

read a fucking book first you tit

Not necessarily but that doesn't stop some people from treating it like such.

World Revolution = Second Coming of the Messiah. Religion was the opiate of the masses. Now Marxism is the crack cocaine.

That's nothing like Marxism or Historical Materialism you massive retard.

...

hahaha

You're serious? What do you think of most white nationalists in the past being meth heads? Should we draw comparison that isn't there to inane conspiratorial bullshit that dent make sense and drug use? We could, the comparison can certainly be made.

no

...

You forgot to add le epic

And, of course,

Daily reminder Hegel was an occultist.

Is property and government democratically organized? Socialism =/= command economy.

I wish he wouldn't have torched Schopenhauer with Lv 3 Firaga. Goddamn sorcerer!

nope

This could be said about literally any political system..

There will be mistakes with socialism, but you are delusional if you think humanity will survive the next 1000 years of capitalism.

...

Yeah. Btw, there's a Russian/Jewish marxist philosopher Joel Regev who currentlty works on the materialist reappropriation of Lurianic Kabbalah, not available in English unfortunately.

Capitalism = Protestantism

lord marx pls save us from the polyps

Somehow, I doubt it.

Even if this is the case, one loon doesn't make Marxist have anything to do with the Lurianic Kabbalah
