Look, that is really cool that you posted the rules for vols where everyone can see them. How about doing the same with the rules for users? And if spam is NOT against the rules, it should NOT be deleted. Period.

BTW, we all know what you mean when you say "these rules will be refined", because you have said that for years. It means you can change your mind every fucking day, and without telling anyone so that you can just ban people who are following the rules simply because they are a personal annoyance to you.

Spam is not against the rules.
Threadbumping is not against the rules.
Pics of little girls taken from mainstream modeling sites do not violate dost or US law, and are therefore not against the rules.
There is a SHITLOAD of things that are not against the rules that get deleted and bans handed out for, including by Dys and by YogurtPig.
I really don't mind that so much, honestly.
What I do mind is all of the pretending that things are rule-based when everyone who spends more than a day here knows that they are whim-based, and that ultimately NOBODY is in control of this board.

Rule 2 is do not ban TOR users. If you're not a volunteer you don't have to worry about it.

Relax…all that is going on right now is that you have a bunch of inexperienced vols who are simply new at what they are doing.
They are going to be over-exuberant and make mistakes, that is part of the process.
It is hard to do that job though if you don't know what the rules you are supposed to be enforcing are. And if users don't know what the rules are that means that there is going to be a lot of work for the vols to do. Having the rules constantly being "revised" is even worse. That way nobody knows what the rules are at any given moment, vols or users. You end up with one vol banning for something that he thinks is against the rules, and another vol lifting the ban on appeal because he thinks it isn't against the rules. With the vols tripping over each other and working at counter-purposes like that, arguments will ensue. Meanwhile, from the point of view of the users there will be no standards being consistently enforced. They will be alienated and will take it out on the vols by posting things that will contribute to the problem. Dys will step in again and give his "this is what the rules are" speech, always adding at the end that "these rules will be revised", and a couple days later when they are "revised", one or two vols will wise up and quit. Maybe they will be replaced and maybe not. Then it is simply a matter of "lather, rinse, repeat". Eventually Dys's wishy-washy bipolar constantly changing pseudo-rules will have alienated all his vols and we will be right back to where we were a week ago.
This is a cycle which has repeated itself at least three times since he took over the board, I do not see any reason to suspect that it will be different this time.

So don't worry user.
Just be patient.

It still doesn't anwer the question of why deleting spam is an acceptable behavior when site policy is that nothing gets deleted unless it is illegal in the US. And no, I am not talking about floodspamming, I understand that malicious attacks designed to make the board unusable is more than just spam and should be deleted. But just generic shitposting spam and threadbumping is not that and neither is against the rules of this board or of this site, so it should not be deleted.

Two facts jump out at me here:
1. There is currently no way to prevent someone with destructive ulterior motives from deliberately embedding themselves as an 8ch mod.
2. There is no way to find out for sure whether you have done so or not until after the person has accomplished their goal.

This is a recipe for disaster, and 8ch is very lucky that a truly destructive mind has not taken advantage of this yet.

The worst you can do as a vol is lock every thread in the catalog, or delete everything. Locking every thread makes it so no one can post once there is no more room for threads. Deleting everything just causes chaos for a little while. Or if you want to play a longer game you can try ruining the board over time with bans and deletes of things that shouldn't be banned or deleted. I doubt it would work well unless dysnomia completely ignored the board though.

No, he (me) isn't. I am a shitposter, but not a pedoshit poster. And this is advertised as a shitposting-friendly board. I just want to know what the rules are. Ever since Dysnomia took over the rules have been a moving target that he refuses to commit to, which has allowed him to delete and ban whatever and whoever he wants at any time and for any reason. As a board owner he is faced with a rule stating that he can not make the board unusable by locking or deleting most threads or posts. He has not locked or deleted most threads or posts to the point where the board is unusable, but he has refused to establish a permanent set of written rules for the board, meaning that at the time they post, users can never know for sure if they are using the board in compliance with the rules.
When asked, he gives the official line and points to the link with the one rule on it. But in practice he continues to delete and ban whoever the hell he wants for whatever reason suits him, and he tells the mods to do the same, but cans them when they get busted for it or when they do too good a job at enforcing a rule that only exists in Dysnomia's mind.

There is a reason that this board has dropped off the radar. Dysnomia has made it unusable for anything worthwhile. It is not what an 8ch board is supposed to be…a user-driven image board. It is an autist-driven internet-based fleshlight for Dynomia's ego to jack off into.

I think the fact that the lack of willingness on the part of Dysnomia to even address the issue of rules speaks volumes.
And not in his favor.

Rules are not flexible and should either never change or not be rules.
Guidelines are flexible and can change, but not randomly or often.
This board runs on one rule (nothing illegal in the US), no guidelines, and a shitload of Dysnomia's feelings, which change from moment to moment and which he does not feel the need to share with anyone, including his own vols.
That is a big problem, and a major factor in why this board is dead.
If it isn't fixed one way or another, there is no point in continuing the board.
