ok, I will explain, the destruction of the private sector wasn't an accident, so let's explain how things work in venezuela.

There's no proper forex trade in venezuela, government fixes the price of the dollar and controls transactions, there are even several tiers of this(when this change was made there also existed swap markets who could sell at over fixed price but they were later banned as well which created a black market dollar with a roaring price), so you have a system that greatly overvalues your currency, you need to go through government to import shit so here's the scenario:

I'm Diosdado Cabello, I either import directly or through someone else to cover my tracks, I'm part of the corrupt government so I know my solicitude of 2 ton of chickens will be approved, I pay in bolivar and I DON'T receive the dollars, instead, the company who will supply what I need gets the dollars(so to avoid private companies to abuse the dollars), now let's say the company providing the chickens are from my ownership(or owned by someone through me, again, to cover my tracks) let's call it corruption incorporated, they sell each chicken for 15$, but they are no producers, they are just resellers, so corruption inc buys each chicken for 2$ so they made a neat profit of 13$ per chicken.

Diosdado —-bolivares—→government
government ——dollars –→ corruption inc
corruption inc—-dollars-→some business
corruption inc—–product—→venezuelan shelves.
-then you have expropiations,w ho will invest with the risk of outright losing their inversion?
-then you have labor laws business can't even fire employees even if they are beyond shit, ofc, the government goes around this having public employees like teachers and nurses from contract to contract, so their contract can just not be renewed(specially if you don't go to that rally you were told to go to). If that wasn't enough they also have in some other ways, for a clear example, they expropiated agroisleña, they closed it down(if the company no longer exist then obviously people have to be laid off!) and then reopened it as agropatria putting in position mostly dick sucker, people registered in their party a lot of who didn't even work.
-if this wasn't enough a lot of products have a "fair price" reducing whatever interest there might be to produce here, someone buying a scarce product could earn a lot fucking more than the people planting, sowing, producing, packing, transporting and selling the product.
