So essentially, all of their graft and tax evasion is sooo important to the economy that it's just bound to fail if anything interferes? It's just the same scare tactics the porkies use against anti-corruption reforms, and a total smokescreen?

Porkys who invest in trade between UK and the rest of europe or just the UK in general is gonna think that their stocks are worth less and as such will try to sell them off to get some return of their investment wich will make these stocks in effect worth less and as the stocks plumets porkies loose "value" and become terriefied of investments which drive a capitalist economy making the current ressesion even worse. So pretty much Stocks=bullshit. of course this relies on the implication that economics can tell the future, wich in case you don't know, it can't.

The EU is the UK's biggest export market and EU membership makes it very easy for a company to operate across multiple countries in the EU. The threat of leaving the various treaties which facilitate this makes a lot of companies wary of doing business in the UK. In particular the finance sector rely on the EU laws which allow a bank to be located in one country and serve people anywhere else in the EU. People are selling shares in British companies because, depending on the details of negotiation, those companies could find their markets drastically shrunk or be forced to relocate.
