At this point, I'd bring back Jasper and Bismuth, and get the plot going for once. Ignore townies, focus a bit more on Greg, Peridot, and Lapis, and try to develop all of them instead of going "Character X has this and it's okay because love." I always wonder, what's the point of giving a show deep and interesting plot and lore if it's never explained further in any episode and is just pushed aside for boring slice of life stuff?

Well, I like when the things are vague, rather than "IN YOUR FACE" kind of deal. However, the problem with Steven Universe is that in 4 seasons they have barely explained shit. Shit should have been wrapped in season 3, explaining the whole Diamonds stuff in season 2 or maybe 3 itself.
I also like the Slice of Life genre, but the problem is that Steven Universe have a plot far more interesting than an stupid slice of life going on. Also, they should explain things through the slice of life itself, to not make it a complete waste of time. There are episodes that makes you wonder why you watch them. A cool slice of life episode is probably where Peridot get her telekinetic powers, and slice of life is even forgivable in episodes about Rose, since they're in the past with Greg. But hell, who fucking cares about Mr. Smiley being a comedian? Also, that episode about the Pizza chick was neat because it's revealed that Steven can actually share dreams with other people.
