Let's say that you're in Egypt...

Let's say that you're in Egypt. If the government announced that internet access to other countries would be cut off in 24 hours, what would you do to prepare yourself?

Grab a cantenna and install quagga.

Torrent a bunch of porn.

Shrug and get back to cutting off my daughter's clitoris.

I'd firstly make sure I have a copy of both the latest Slackware source code and LFS, as well as the source code of every program I use that's not included in Slackware. That would make sure I have the source code of most of my current linux system, and I still have the freedom to study and modify it.
Besides that, I'd download whatever it was I was doing in advance, meaning: Whatever anime I was watching or planning to watch, whatever game I was planning to play, the full documentation of whatever programming language/library/thing I was using, or plan/love to use, etc.
Finally, I guess I'd start looking for people in the same predicament who might be interested in setting up some sort of meshnet to share their stuff.

Kill yourself you stupid faggot

Sage negated :^)

upvote

I'm giving you Holla Forums+ gold for those numbers

GTFO of that insane shithole.

This has also been happening in English speaking Cameroon for almost 3 months.
Apparently you can still make phone calls and receive text messages, but you can't connect to any websites (don't remember if email works)

Fuck off

I think they might just be trying to escape the international corporate jew. To be honest I'm not sure there is a way other than total protectionist paranoia.

Time to download Library Genesis.

kiwix.org would be a good start. Lets you get an offline copy of Wikipedia.

how the fuck would u have internet in egypt how tf you get internet in your pyramid? how u talking to us from ancient history?

You are pathetic

we be kangz n communicating with our advanced technology thru time n space n shit, u should kno since u crackas tookit from us

Pyramids are strongly resilient

First I would laugh joyously and pour myself a drink.
Then I would download the latest stable Debian ISOs (non-netinstall ones).
Then I would order some books over the Internet that I can't get in my own country.
Then I would continue to laugh joyously because my fellow countrymen will no longer be pacified and distracted by the Internet and other related tech.
Then I would bring down my government with said fellow countrymen.

??
OK, I'm sorry that I cause you pity.

Redditors need to leave.

I read a lot of math books, so I'd grab everything I could from gen.lib.rus.ec before the shut down.

Would IPFS be useful?

Considering it's only for certain part of the country, I don't think that's the case. For example, if Tibet had no internet access but the rest of china did, I don't think China would be trying to escape the "international corporate jew".
It's more because of ongoing protests in western Cameroon that's the cause of it.
Also, they'd be doing a shitty job of that considering what China is doing there.

Someone I know thinks that considering you can still make phone calls and send text messages, they're just blocking a port, but I'm too Holla Forumsilliterate about how the internet works to know this. If that was the case and they were only blocking the http port, wouldn't tor work since it goes through a different port, assuming that's not blocked?

kill myself because i'm somehow in egypt

what's your daughter's clitoris made of that you didn't managed to cut off in a single attempt?

No, because normalfags aren't using it yet.

...

an actual egyptian?

Is that the Wikipedia guy?

I'm already prepared. I've got software, music, tv, anime, ebooks, tutorials, backups, etc covered to the hills. Also a bunch of meshnet software and guides. I'm waiting for the day I get to bust it out

I order 10,000 pepperoni and ham pizzas, and have them delivered to my bunker.

why not just buy satelite internet in diffirent country within the satelite range

How do you hide the sattelite dish? In that kind of shtf situation I think it'd be safer to use dial-up and organize some sneakernet networks for the very large files.

You can use satellites to visit sites without being traced. When you send a request to a site, you spoof the ip of someone using the same transponder as the one you're listening too, then you sniff out the reply when it gets sent to them.

Yes, but how to prevent the actual dish from being visible? A country that goes full intranet likely forbids satelite tv as well.

True. You don't necessarily have to use a dish, you can use other types of high gain antenna/ low noise amplifier combinations.

You can also hide dishes under stuff that isn't radio-opaque. That's how radomes work.

Grab AK go inna desert

Start stockpiling USB drives and DVDs so I can sell media and software to those who didn't bother preparing for a blackout.

Then recheck my SHTF supplies because I began preparing it the second I came to Egypt.
