Egalitarianism does make you a rather unique individual in modern western society, though. Both traditional conservatives and the SJWs who have taken over the left are all about identity politics, and hate the concept of individuality. They also very much don't think we are equal. Consider the idea of superorganisms. There are animals whose entire communities function in many ways like an individual, and the specific organisms that make it function more like cells in the body of a different animal. The idea of what exactly a mind is, or indeed even a life, an organism, or an individual, is not a simple one. We think, therefore we are, but at what point do you decide something can or cannot think? There are many animals that we as humans can obviously see do have thoughts and emotions. Then there are others that people claim do not have them. But where is the cutoff? And is it possible that we are simply just not looking at those animals in the right way?

I'm not really following the discussion, but just dropping in to say this is really not true at all. There's about ~127 million people living on that island. They have a birthrate 'problem', which in my opinion isn't so much a birthrate problem as it is a symptom of a much bigger cultural and societal problem. Of course those things are connected so this may be obvious, but I think people are largely overblowing the decline in birth rates not so much in that the numbers are not correct, but that I think they can handle some depopulation as they got plenty of people around and have bigger issues that will solve the birth rates when they are fixed.
