Reinhard Heydrich was one of the few true national socialists, those with an 'iron heart' so to speak, knowing the costs and acceptable sacrifices neccessary to lead Germany to a potential victory. Ruthlessness, a necessity back then, cunning and intelligent, he was destined to lead when he was not murdered in 1942.

A book I read that mentioned him a lot said that he grew up thinking he was Jewish and found out years later that he was mistaken.

There was also a funny anecdote about him. Apparently he would hang out at this brothel and just be a huge jerk to everyone. He'd fuck the girls and refuse to pay them after, get drunk and start fights. The brothel owners tolerated his behavior because of his high stature. The final straw that got him kicked out was, him walking past a large antique mirror and saying "look, a jew!" before firing a pistol into it.

Another interesting thing in that book said was that when he was tasked with creating the SD, he didn't really know what he was doing and modeled the group based on stuff he read in Ian Fleming novels. He also served in the Navy briefly and got kicked out supposedly for having sex with an officer's daughter.

The assassination of Reinhard Heydrich was something that benefited the Czech government in exile, the British, and the Soviets.
Apparently Heydrich had begun keeping lines of contact open with the British since 1938, and was in favour of a negotiated peace with them.
This was enough for Churchill and his advisors to want to help get rid of him.
The USSR of course needed a second front so they were also happy with his elimination. The Czech government in exile were on excellent terms with the USSR so were quite happy to help them out.

Compared to other teritories occupied by the Germans, resistance was fairly minimal and industrial production wasrunning at a high level.

never heard of this version. i read the version (put forward by schellenberg) that after winter 1941 he began thinking aloud about a peace with soviet union and the japanese were ready to act as mediators. this would also have meant that hawks among nazis like ribbentrop or hitler himself would have to step down. it's plausible that himmler at first cooperated with heydrich but then took part in a "let it happen" type of assassination.

Born in the German city of Halle, near Leipzig on March 7, 1904, Reinhard Eugen Tristan Heydrich was raised in a cultured, musical environment. His father founded the Halle Conservatory of Music and was a Wagnerian opera singer, while his mother was an accomplished pianist. Young Heydrich trained seriously as a violinist, developing expert skill and a lifelong passion for the violin.

As a boy, he lived in an elegant home with his family enjoying elevated social status. But young Heydrich also suffered as the target of schoolyard bullies, teased about his very high pitched voice and his devout Catholicism in the mostly Protestant town. He was also beaten up by bigger boys and tormented with anti-Jewish slurs amid rumors of Jewish ancestry in his family.

At home Heydrich's mother believed in the value of harsh discipline and frequent lashings.
