Stakes would have been 100x better if it was just Finn and Marceline kicking vampire ass while Jake pisses his nonexistent pants in the sidelines. The whole Bubblegum and Marceline relationship felt forced like someone read tumblr and then injected everyone's poorly thought out ideas into the show.

That wasn't my problem with stakes, actually, my problem was that it was overall pretty weak in how they dealt with the vampires, specially the last episode, fuck that giant black cloud, that's not menacing or interesting. The most interesting part was the first episode where marceline lost her powers.
Also, the whole relationship thing wasn't forced at all, at least not in stakes. They have been building a "relationship" between them since season 3, they just went full retarded in stakes.
