That's not how evolution works. If there is no mutation or set of mutations that would make one "super-smart" that arises then you can wait till the "death" of the sun and we still wouldn't have developed "super-intelligence". beyond that there needs to be selective pressures that one with those genes will have an advantage in dealing with over those without them. Those without them must be dying off before they can breed at a higher rate than those with the genes. Unless we directly manipulate our genetics their is no grantee that there will be some "super-smart" gene or more likely set of genes given that it's the combination of genes typically that give rise to the phenotype, not some solitary magical gene.

From what I remember animals that see better in the dark tend to have rather shitty color vision, like dogs and cats. However, that might just be because the examples I'm referring to are carnivores who don't really have to use color as much as other animals to discern what foods are safe to eat. Therefore there's no selective pressure that would select the genes of individuals among those species who can see in wider range of colors over those among the same species who can't. Which would mean the species as whole wouldn't have better color vision.
