I went to Davao when he was mayor. Walked out at night with no fear despite being white as hell. Something I couldn't do in American big cities.
Unlike Manila which looked like a third world hellhole full of shanties and favelas, Davao was prosperous and well educated. It was like Singapore or Taiwan.
