In my country most of the workers want socialism and communism but are too afraid to do anything about it, since when you strike you get fired. and unemployment rate is 35%, so there are reserve armies of labor.
When I got arrested for party activity even the cops showed solidarity, and every time they'd write the rapport in our favor as best as they could, but they still want to keep their jobs and earn the bread.
That is the state of affairs, people are simply afraid and I don't blame them.

Holla Forums types seem to have the deluded belief that, because many members of the white working class have conservative leanings, that they will naturally be on board with a fascist dictatorship by extension. It's similar to the assumption on the other side of the political spectrum that all liberals will jump on the socialist bandwagon when the opportunity arises, which we have LONG since established is not even close to being the case.
The worst part is that many of the reasons WHY such people have such leanings (both among some conservatives and further right positions) is for dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the modern capitalist system. However, they fail to see the forest for the trees: they cling to individual issues like immigration (and by extension, adopt racialist/nationalist tendencies) rather than seeing that immigration is driven by a capitalist demand for cheap and expendable labor. Rather than remove the capitalist system that drives the problem, they try and relabel capitalism as something "different and better," then take actions that continue to strengthen the existing ruling elite.

Whether you like it or not, this isn't that far-fetched of a notion, because fascism doesn't get people on board by having the most reasonable platform.
Trump is hardly a fascist in an objective sense, but his campaign is a perfect example of how they recruit. He appeals to a building sense of discontent with a shameless attitude, and because he has no actual plans as a leader, he's effectively immune to criticism, making him a cult personality. Annoying simplistic ideas like "build wall lol" appeal to the need for something a politically deprived person can grasp instead of a nuanced and effective solution to problems.
It works because he can scapegoat fears of the Other just across the border, making people clamor for a monarch to protect them. People are content with authoritarianism because they believe it is as free as it gets.
