Watchmen was a shitty film because it didn't capture the world Moore created accurately, and played it as Noir Superheroes, when it's supposed to be Stupidly Edgy Superheroes That Defy Every Other Superhero Standard.

The whole fucking book, down to the goddamn (and this gets quoted every time) panel layout. Those 3x3 panels are a fucking joke aimed at the origins of superheroes and comics in general.

I'm literally convinced Moore hates comics and makes his work to convince others, but people keep acting like his work is a massive allegory and he needs to be praised.

May of been faithful in story, but not in tone, and that's what killed it.

Like with the Harry Potter movies, J. K. Rowling is a hack writer that got lucky and slightly better with practice as time went on, but with some actual directing At least in the first three movies due to the directors actually going to art schools the movies are way better than the books by leagues, especially by getting rid of info that isn't going to serve to the plot in any way.
In the same way the best part of the Watchmen movie is that 5 minute intro because it explains the world very well, gets rid off unimportant characters while not ignoring them and saves exposition and more blatant spoonfeeding.

I don't recall how in original comic book, Adrians plan would just be on some computer, that Owlman and Rorshach accessing with password they guessed by looking at near by photograph, like in some b-movie. It's rather streamined adaptation tainted by Hack Snyders direction.

Fuck no, the things they adapt from are shit and then they don't respect the source material in any way, by giving a shit adaptation like mistaking character motivations, plot holes induced by not knowing what to cut, shit gimmick camera that doesn't focus in what's important.
If you want a panel by panel faithful adaptation you need a series.

It's because the modern masses don't understand metaphors/symbolism and hate not having closure - they think it's some "pretentious edginess" to have cliffhangers and shit.
What I'm hinting at is that a bunch of the cliffhangers in the watchmen are actually answered within the movie/comic books. For example, in the end, Adrian tries to kill John, while killing Bubastis in the process. John then proceeds to come back literally bigger. This is a metaphor that parallels Adrian's plan, with John representing the threat of nuclear war/any "world-ending" catastrophe, and Bubastis representing the people Adrian has to kill to "destroy" the catastrophe. However, John just comes back bigger (and badder), hinting at the fact that maybe Adrian's plan won't pan out in the canon happening after the advents of the comic book, and perhaps there will just be another threat to the world, meaning Adrian really accomplished nothing

It's bad because Zack Snyder tried to eat his cake and keep it by trying to adapt some parts of the comic faithfully while altering or omitting other parts as a concession to movie audiences, resulting in a pretty confused film. That the Squid was replaced with a flawed frame-up scheme just happens to be the tip of the iceberg.

Simply put, Snyder tried to make a dumbed down cape film out of a very unorthodox Whodunnit that happens to have capes in it.

In fairness if you wanted to include the entirety of the book you'd run something like 10 hours long. So amputating the plot points surrounding the black freighter and the squid cuts it down in time and needs no other explanations as to why and how, though it DOES leave some character development unfulfilled.
