There are tons of kids who commit petty crimes like that aren't there - stealing stuff, destroying stuff, whatever, and they go to jail for a while, and it's a character building experience, and then they come out as an ex-con, and nobody will fuck with them.

I know a guy who went to jail and now he's out and he's got a great job. And in fact I know another guy who went to jail when he was young and he had a great career after that, made lots of money.

A life of crime can be very rewarding if you're smart enough and tough enough. Tony Accardo is the best example that I know of. He started as an enforcer for the Chicago Outfit. When Capone went to prison he was made a Capo and eventually became the top boss. After a long life in which he made vast amounts of money he died of old age without ever spending a single day in jail. However, guys like Accardo are very rare. 99.99% are caught by police or killed by other criminals because stealing an organization is easier than building one. If you're contemplating a life of crime you need to ask yourself "Am I REALLY smarter than every cop and criminal out there?" I'm willing to bet big money that you aren't up to it.
