But I think the biggest issue with Reddit is its openess and the welcoming nature of the site. Now this sounds like a good idea, but what it essentially means is that there is no filter for shit, i.e. meme-spewing normal fags straight from Facebook that shit up everything they come in contact with. That's one of the things that anonymous boards like this have over Reddit, if someone is unwelcome, they will be made well aware of it.

This basically means astroturfing is a lot easier because you don't even have to make a believable reply to something for it to get more visibility.
Encourages circlejerking and narrative control
Discussion is drawn away from a general topic because people can make more specific subreddits about subcategories. (For example, /r/Gaming and /r/STALKER) This means more circlejerking as people who like something objectively shit can make a hugbox for themselves. This is different with the custom boards here because of the following reason

Upvoting/Downvoting could be good if implemented correctly, but this kills it. Karma allows for the creation of reputation behind posts instead of it being user, which hinders discussion as people often bring in identities and credibility when arguing. When you're user, no one on Holla Forums can discredit you for being a diaper fetishist pedophile on Holla Forums.
