Comics, but mostly collections, not original issues. I collected new issues for a few years and got most of the New 52 runs of series I liked, but it got too expensive to keep up with new stories, because of constant crossovers meaning if you want a whole story you need to buy nearly all the issues DC publishes in a month.

Old comics are largely better anyway. And though I love Silver and Bronze Age Marvel, I could never get into modern Marvel, since when I was getting into new comics, the SJW shit was just starting.

But still every so often I'll go to a used bookstore and pick up a metric fuckton of old collections. DC and Marvel both put out black and white phonebook sized collections of stuff in chronological order. I've read every single Spider-Man and its spinoff series for the first 20 years of its publications, and am currently working on Fantastic Four, since I got lucky last time I was at the store and got a whole bunch of it in order. My DC collection is even better though, going all the way from the first appearance of Superman (he's my favorite. Later Superman stuff is very underrated), up to modern day, with most of the major stories covered (though I'm missing a few big Flash ones), and a lot of more obscure shit. DC's non-capeshit stuff is really cool sometimes, and it's really fun when they cross over with the capeshit. Stuff like Jonah Hex and Enemy Ace is fucking awesome. I'm so mad they put the Wonder Woman movie in WWI, for some bizarre reason, but didn't have Enemy Ace in it.

I wish I had a kid so I could read these to them every night, in order, unlike the way I read them (since I just read what I happened to find at the store). People talk about deepest lore, but the DCU is way the fuck deeper than even regular comics fans know. People talk about plotholes but they have ways to fix all of that shit, so long as you read enough of it. And there's so much that you'll never run out of material to read.

If you know where to look for deals, and happen to have a few good used bookstores with comics in your city, comic collecting isn't the most expensive thing ever (though it's typically more than novels). Just don't get caught by the new stuff. It's majorly addicting, the whole business structure is made to be addicting to a few whales and make them buy everything, so if you get into it, it's super expensive. Old shit is better anyway.

Usually, and if not immediately I'll probably come up with a use for it later.
For example:
I use my knowledge of computer science to write or contribute to programs that make my life and lives of others easier, to write games that fulfill me and to reduce my life into something I can easily understand and work with. I also use it to hack if someone crosses me.
I use my knowledge of maths to optimise my software.
I use my knowledge of psychology to manage my mental health, socially engineer, plan against a person's various possible actions and to work towards escaping my abusive parents (I have alot of other knowledge I'm using for this one actually, the psychological aspect is mostly for dealing with the fallout and deprogramming myself so I actually do it).
I use my knowledge of economy to get money for games on the Steam marketplace.
I use my knowledge of physics to have something to talk about with oneitis.
I use my knowledge of music theory and history to write songs, play guitar and discover new music.
I use my knowledge of art to create images and scenes I visualise and artwork for the games I write.
I use my knowledge of biology to get /fit/.

I used to collect knives mostly because I was edgy. Then I lost interest, so I didn't add any more to my small collection.

After a relative of mine died I ended up inheriting his knife collection (significantly greater than my own) and his tobacco pipe collection. Both are hard to get rid off.

He also had a literal white elephant made of porcelain, but I didn't get that.
