Spotlight on Fashy Goys #1: Ezra Pound

Periodically, I will be creating threads for the sole purpose of remembering the original Holla Forumsacks. These guys laid the foundation for some of what we believe. I will not be highlighting the works of the NSDAP because most of what they have done is readily known and easily found. This is for the unsung heroes. If you know of any lesser-known facts about these Holla Forumsacks, please post and discuss. Links to his literature and other articles about his politics should be posted.

Ezra Weston Loomis Pound (30 October 1885 – 1 November 1972) was an expatriate American poet and critic, and a major figure in the early modernist movement. His contribution to poetry began with his development of Imagism, a movement derived from classical Chinese and Japanese poetry, stressing clarity, precision and economy of language. His best-known works include Ripostes (1912), Hugh Selwyn Mauberley (1920) and the unfinished 120-section epic, The Cantos (1917–69).

Working in London in the early 20th century as foreign editor of several American literary magazines, Pound helped discover and shape the work of American and Irish contemporaries such as T. S. Eliot, James Joyce, Robert Frost, and Ernest Hemingway. He arranged for the 1915 publication of Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" and the serialization from 1918 of Joyce's Ulysses. Hemingway wrote of him in 1925: "He defends [his friends] when they are attacked, he gets them into magazines and out of jail. … He introduces them to wealthy women. He gets publishers to take their books. He sits up all night with them when they claim to be dying … he advances them hospital expenses and dissuades them from suicide."[1]

Outraged by the carnage of World War I, Pound lost faith in England and blamed the war on usury and international capitalism. He moved to Italy in 1924. Through the 1930s and 1940s he embraced Benito Mussolini's Italian Fascism, expressed support for Adolf Hitler, and wrote for publications owned by British fascist Oswald Mosley. During World War II, he was paid by the Italian government to make hundreds of radio broadcasts criticizing the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Jews. As a result, he was arrested by American forces in Italy in 1945 on charges of treason, and was kept for months in detention in a U.S. military camp in Pisa. He was held for three weeks in a six-by-six-foot outdoor steel cage, which he said triggered a mental breakdown, "when the raft broke and the waters went over me." Deemed unfit to stand trial, Pound was incarcerated in St. Elizabeths psychiatric hospital in Washington, D.C., for over 12 years.[2]

While in custody in Italy, Pound had begun work on sections of The Cantos. These were published as The Pisan Cantos (1948), for which he was awarded the Bollingen Prize in 1949 by the Library of Congress, triggering enormous controversy.

Largely due to a campaign by his fellow writers, he was released from St. Elizabeths in 1958, and returned to live in Italy until his death. His political views ensure that his work remains as controversial now as it was during his lifetime; in 1933 Time magazine called him "a cat that walks by himself, tenaciously unhousebroken and very unsafe for children." Hemingway wrote: "The best of Pound's writing – and it is in the Cantos – will last as long as there is any literature."[3]

Good idea, but perhaps this would be better preserved for posterity in a slower moving board, so your write-ups aren't lost in 24-48 hours.

/polhistory/ or something like that.

I mean for it to be a never-ending revolving door of sorts. If this seems interesting, by the time Ezra is off the catalog, there will be another. There has to be at least 100 great Holla Forumsacks to read and learn about.

There's enough material, I think, to keep this up for at least a year with different historical figures.

Sounds good.

There are also interesting reads.

Ezra Pound is based. Eustace Mullins did his biography.
darkmoon.me/2013/my-struggle-against-the-jews-by-eustace-mullins/

Good idea. With so few happenings happening, the board needs some quality content.

However there will be that one faggot who makes a (1) sage post claiming that every thread is a slide thread.

...

Ezra did teach at the college I attend for quite some time. He gave quarter to an abandoned circus performer and we fired him on the suspicion of engaging in pre-marital relations with the girl.

Yeah but that asshole is always a faggot. I think Ezra is worth a spot in the catalog for a few days. If an actual happening occurs, this will get slid and that's fine.
I just want to spark an interest in our roots. The blueprints for eliminating the Jew and American fascism have been drawn up years ago by these great men. We just need to rediscover or discover them for the first time. I want that to be the goal of these threads.
Plus, obviously, I don't know everything about these guys and it will be a learning experience for me. Approved newfag lurkers will also have a reference for when we mention people like Ezra or Rockwell or Mullins. Nobody should need to be spoon fed information about these guys. Instead, we will all know them more intimately without excuses.

Thank you for the interesting essay. I copied this part to entice anons to read it

I'll bump this, so long as you do something about CH Douglas and the Social Credit movement too. There's a lot of fascist overlap with him.

Duly noted, friendanon.

When I hear Ezra I think about this guy and get instantly repulsed.
Make it stop…

my favorite bad goy was probably voltaire

He tore that faggot Rousseau a new one too.

Tell us more, please.

Good idea

Holla Forums was better when it was VNN lite, and not for faggots who couldn't get invites to TRS forums.

Christ, his letters to Rousseau are a scream to read. Rousseau was like the prototype of the pretentious hipster.

Didn't Rousseau believe that people are affected by outer change more than inner change, or something like that? Wasn't he a proto-Marx?

I was triggered as well. I support all pro-White sites, but I really wish they would keep TRS memes and argot where they belong.

Next time, you might want to gather more material concerning the subjects to the OP.
Otherwise a very nice idea.

How fashy were the modernists, in the end? Was Ezra Pound the only one open about his political leanings after the war?

Well I've read his "Origins on Inequality in Man" recently, and he seems to mostly blame human society for people's problems. In that essay at least, he took a super Luddite view, where he condemned the very concept of people living together in stable communities, and seemed to idolize hunter-gatherer societies.

It's hard to nail him down really cause he could contradict himself hugely. Like, I know for a fact that at some point he advocated for mandatory state education, which would kind of violate his Paleolithic fantasies.

That's what I was thinking of, yeah. Yeah, the guy is a proto-Marx; blame society for everything!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but Casa Pound is probably Italy's most Holla Forums organization. Their ideology is heavily influenced by the thought of Ezra Pound. They are very active.

Based wops.

yeah, and they're just angsty little boys who act and look like low-tier society members, so they'll get nowhere in the world. You have to look and act respectably for people to listen, and they don't.

CasaPound is indeed based.

This. And pound was totally a 1488 Uncle Adolf-worshiper.

Threads like this should be reserved for real fashy goys like Augusto Pinochet and Milton Friedman.

The plural of "goy" is "goyim."

but using the forced meme at all flags you as nu-right Renegade-tier shill. Sinead McCancer

I honestly think there is a lot of NSDAP work and persons that needs to be highlighted.

It's both, retard

oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/goy

wut

The reason I chose not to is because it seems like there is a lot of information floating about regarding NSDAP officials. They're pretty much the obvious choice to do threads on.
However, many like myself feel disconnected from the fascism of Europe. When people talk about fascism, immediately images of the third reich come to mind. But the idea that pockets of fascism and the fact that many fascists existed here as well is an idea that needs to be extrapolated on. It needs to be pointed out because it's drowned out by the third reich. It makes fascism seem like something too distant to attain, when in reality, it could have happened in the US as well.
If you wanted to do something similar with the unsung members of the third reich, that is a whole other series of many many figures which would focus on Germany and not America. The point here is to go into OUR own heroes and pioneers. The NSDAP gets constant praise while American fascists are largely ignored. I want that to change. That's why I decided not to go with NSDAP. We could spend literal years on the third reich. But this is different. Hopefully, you understand why I chose to do it this way.

BASED SPAGHETTIS

Translating 'Der Schulungsbrief' magazines into English would be a really good project.

I

A lot of things need to be translated tbh. The germans on this board need to step up thier game.

don't you mean the fashyist of all goys like Mises and Rand?

This, too many anons don't even know that there was a highly vibrant "third positionist"I'd hesitate to flat out label everyone involved as just fascist in the US until a series of assassinations and character assassinations took place in the mid 30s
They even formed a large portion of the resistance against FDR's policies

His writings on economics and history were great. Was a revelation to me when I read them. He talks a lot about Social Credit theory which I don't know why isn't more well known in these circles. It is a real alternative to Jew capitalism and socialism. He was really influenced by Douglas and Gessell. He talks about why automation is not allowed to create a better life for most people and more leisure time. This was in the 20's. It's highly relevant now.

Mises and Rand were kike bullshitters. Read Pound on Douglas and Gessell.

Maybe six months ago, I started a thread consisting of documents and letters of the third reich soldiers in German and I wanted to get them translated to English so we could get a better feel for the thoughts and feelings of soldiers during that time.
No replies. Maybe I will do that again at some point in the near future if there's interest.

Don't get me wrong. This is a brilliant idea but i dont think that you need to 100% exclude germans. Like i said there are many in the nsdap that need some light on them like Carl Schmitt for example.

MUH PR. no this isnt the 80's and they are not skinheads they are fine

Pinochet was a disgusting spic

Fair point.
I just don't want to get into doing these on Goering and Goebbels and such. That sort of thing has been done to death on every right wing forum on the Internet, it seems.

Do William Joyce, The Mitford sisters, Vidkun Quisling, Marshal Philippe Pétain, Knut Hamsun, all great goys.

I could maybe do something with sven olov lindholm

...

No no that's not the kind of person i was talking about. Like i said im thinking about people like Carl Schmitt and maybe even people like Armin Mohler (he wasnt in the NSDAP but waffen-ss so close enough in my book).

I always enjoy threads on people forgotten by - or erased from - history. Appreciate it, OP.

Perhaps another six months of Merkel's Deutchland have since awakened a more receptive sentiment.

It's a shame, because such information would gladly be lost to history by the powers that be.

I have seen massive forums of people dedicated to fervently scanning, archiving, indexing and categorizing even such inconsequential things as old porno magazines. I guess it's just a minor flaw due the wiring of the male mind.

All this would be amazing to have in english de.metapedia.org/wiki/Nationalsozialistische_Bibliothek

Okay. Not a bad idea, but I'd like to keep it at 80% non-German/20% German.

You should do one about Houston Stewart Chamberlain. He was a teutophile Englishman, married Wagner's daughter.

His book The Foundations of the Nineteenth Century lays the groundwork for what would become national socialism.

Don't restrict yourself to specific numbers. Do what you think is best.

Celine and Knut Hamsun also Ernst Junger.

I second this

wally butterworth

Here is Pound's actual voice, reading a passage from Cantos about usury.

I like this idea, bringing light to nationalists obscured by history. Wasn't Charles Lindbergh a fascist?

Which of his works should I start with?
Poetry is something I havent gotten into yet.

I was actually thinking about picking up the cantos just today when I saw this thread.

Hey OP, if possible, it would be nice to include some representational works of his that we can read, to get an idea about the man.

Sort of like a Holla Forums bookclub?

Anyway, I think these threads have a lot of potential, I'll be keeping an eye out for them.

Here's "The Cantos of Ezra Pound." It's a collection of his short poems.

pdfarchive.info/pdf/P/Po/Pound_Ezra_Weston_Loomis_-_The_Cantos.pdf

The Norwegian, Knut Hamsun, is a fantastic author, proudly fascist, and an interesting thinker. He'd make an good, but slightly obscure, thread.

Here's "The Difficult Individual, Ezra Pound," by Eustace Mullins.

Gotta love terse wisdom when it reminds you of something you don't usually think about.

Classic (((Christopher Hitchens))) quote re: Pound and the late Willis Carto.

eupon our host, to lighten the atmosphere, said, “Come on Willis, you’re sounding like Ezra Pound”. “Ezra Pound!” exclaimed Mr Carto. “Why, I love that man’s work. Except for all that goddam poetry!” I thought then that if one ever needed a working definition of an anti-Semite, it might perhaps be an individual who esteemed everything about Ezra Pound except his Cantos.

We should be having threads about people like Eustace Mullins on a regular basis too.

fug

I did one on Eustace a while back.

You should make another once this one runs its course.

I was thinking about that, since Eustace and Ezra were connected and friends. Makes a good follow up.

Link?

Everyone on this board should read his Radio Speeches he gave while in Italy. I would upload a pdf of them if I had better internet.

It is not actually a collection. It is supposed to be an unfinished epic poem and his best. Most of it in my opinion is absolutely unreadable, but it contains some of the most beautiful lines of poetry in 20th century.

Not only did mullins do his biography he researched for years for pound at the library of congress while he was being kept in the mental hospital. Can anyone say US political prisoner? The research pound had him carry out was what totally red pilled mullins and ensured pound that someone would carry on his work after his death. Alas mullins has also passed away recently as well.

and i might add that while he believed that all men are equal, he would not have been there with "refugees welcome" signs.

even though at school they depict all illuminists as irredimable, terminal cosmopolitans.
