Save the world?

He's just another porky, m8. Porkies are becoming more and more technocratic as the singularity approaches. We will be living in a cyberpunk dystopia within fifty years.

I also like how lolberts like Being Classically Liberal on Facebook praise him for showing how "capitalism drives scientific innovation," yet he receives loads of funding from the federal gubbermint.

Ever since steve jobs CEO's and other porkies have started to develop cults of personality around them and speak like a never ending TED talk.
Like most porkies they are the upper class liberal elite who vote for people like clinton, but also donate money to the republican in case they win too.
These people dont care about politics they care about power and image.

...

So lolbert?

People conflate social liberalism with cultural liberalism.

Literally the worst of both worlds.

The hilarious thing is, for all his free market talk, his companies sure as shit need those sweet US gov't subsidies to keep from going under.

His cult of personality is on another level, people like to pretend he's some amazing engineering innovator when he just got lucky in the dotcom boom.

Do you have more on this? My brother is obsessed with this guy. I'm annoyed but don't know what to say.

pfff you wish
I wish

He went to one of the best boarding schools in south africa off of daddy's money, only got a bachelor's degree after. Got lucky with the stock market in the late 90's (Paypal). People like to pretend he's some sort of genius while he has no credentials whatsoever as an engineer (let alone aerospace engineer).

Was apparently a huge dick to his wife (who he left after he got rich, she was a 'starter wife'). He's also rabidly anti-union, mass firing employees wanting to unionise, buying up union halls, so they can't convene and so on.

So basically rich kid bought himself richer with daddy's money, and wants to play astronaut with it.

What's new?

porky's gonna pork

Jesus mate.

As far as pigs go, theres worse thing they could be doing than roleplaying gundam.

We already do.

No we don't. I still have places in my densely populated country they cant track me via a chip in my body.

Conscious personality cult building. He wants to be the next Steve Jobs.

My brother is too. Also with this other asshole named mark Cuban. He's been working at steak and shake for Years full time and he still posts shit on Facebook like: "you gotta work your ass off and achieve your dreams" or "while errbody out there chasing money I be chasing my dreams"

Democrats have been right wing since Carter. They have no cognitive dissonance over expressing support for Clinton, when a sizeable part of the population think that the Dems are still for the working class and the vulnerable.

Even the simpsons got how capitalism cannot work with free energy and so on.

I like him.

You gotta understand that to place an unreasonably high standard on who is "leftypol approved" is harmful to your cause. Accept those whose works, intentionally or otherwise, lead to a brighter tomorrow. I believe a multi-planet species and self-driving electric cars are good for us, so Elon Musk is a force for good. Maybe not pure good, but general good.

Just because someone is rich doesn't mean they're a "porky". If they treat others well and produce something of value, they're an okay rich person.

We tried "compromise" already. We got identity politics.

Except it's impossible to be as wealthy as Musk without massive exploitation involved.
What? Do we then defend Gates because of his "philanthropy".

Heralding these kinds of figures does nothing but perpetuate liberal ethical consumerism and by extension - identity politics.

Spends his money better than some richfags, I'd like to see some of the projects he funds taken over by the proletariat after the revolution.

Still a porky and therefore ripe for expropriation.

The problem is not even his porkyness.
The problem is all this shit CANNOT WORK within Capitalism.

No but Ellon Musk most certainly is. He owns the means of production. He's hostile to leftist ideas and unions. He's exploiting people's surplus vlaue. He's a text book tech porky. Fuck off what that "compromise" nonsense. Compromising with capitalists is the equivalent of compromising with slave traders and plantation owners to end slavery.

>>>/Liberalpol/

musk's exploitation of his workers, from what I can tell, isn't based on greed, but of ignorance of the inherrent exploitative nature of capitalism, and a personal drive to innovate. I think he's got his heart in the right place, and much of the tesla tech is important, but he's still a bourgeois, and unlikely to go socialist because that would run counter to his own best interests. Or perhaps, he believes that benevolent capitalists will one day bring communism to the world, elevating the quality of life of the proletariate to their own. Everyone's got their own idiosyncratic ideology.

You've got to be kidding.

Hey, he's still a porkmeister who'd need to be off'd in a revolution, and his private property distrubted. But I don't think he's just a schemer who wants money. I think he truly believes himself to be bettering the world.

His solar energy company SolarCity used a contractor that employed prison laborers to make solar panels. In other words, he uses slave labor, but the kind of slavery that is legal according to the 13th Amendment.

You can go look up stories in regards to how SpaceX treats its employees. Fuck, Elon Musk. Nigga reminds me of some Deus ex bad guy.

They don't need chips when you already carry your phone everywhere.

He's a class enemy, that's what I think of him. Any other thoughts I have about him are irrelevant.

Also he just sounds like a lolbert

Batshit insane and corrupted beyond salvage by his economic muh privilege

There's something in the water in Silicon Valley that turns corporate executives into pompous douchenozzles with delusions of grandeur.

Musk is the worst example of this (the worst alive, at least, ever since Steve Jobs died). The way he talks reminds me of a cult leader.

My brother keeps dismissing criticisms of Musk's business practices, mostly because he's infatuated with his whole "get humans off this shithole" vibe.

What would be a good way to shut down this ideology down? How do I explain to him that Musk's plan for the colonization of Mars and other ventures are merely the illusions of progress? He simply won't get over the idea that because the world is going to shit, Elon Musk is doing us a great favor by introducing solar energy tech and space exploration concepts.

No matter how bad I portray him ("evil cosmo capitalist!") my bro seems to shrug it off with some argument that sums up as "the ends justify the means" (like he can forgive Musk for practically using slaves, because it's for the 'good of humanity').

Sorry for blogpost, this shit is irritating.

he's literally a part of the bourgeoisie you fucking idiot

Space exploration is not profitable. SpaceX is only able to exist because NASA does

SpaceX isn't getting anywhere, they have the highest failure rate of unmanned rocket launches of any aerospace company EVER

Don't you see? That's what makes this asshole so insidious. He's making space travel into a capitalist venture. NASA might have progressed if thier funding was not cut such a great deal. This guys piggybacking off them with his tremendous capital, and he and his cronies to ensure that glorious space communism won't ever happen

Isn't this the loser who got divorced by his gold digger wife, then married her again and then got divorced again?

Yes, praise the individual. Don't invest into sustainable, commie public transportation. Congested traffic is a good thing!

Nice article criticizing his "cult of personality"

This thread disgusts me.

Your "revolution" will never go anywhere if you insist on complete conformity to your ideals from everyone. Compromise is how people in the real world get things done. Elon isn't a saint but he's useful to have on our side. Or do you have a billionaire that passes your strict communist litmus test?

But he's not on our side.

Like having their budget determined by Congress was such a nice relationship, and then SpaceX ruined it, right?

Yeah, nobody's on your side except Holla Forums and a few philosophers nobody's ever heard of. Yep, I'm sure the revolution will happen any day now.

I don't think anybody thinks it's going to happen anytime soon. Besides, those compromises you speak of, give us as shit like social democracy which betray the cause and undermine our message.

kys

Musk is a porky with a cult following him. He isn't doing anything remotely useful for anyone except himself and his investors, definitely not
for revolution.

He is a capitalist. We aren't talking about a socdem liberal or even a disillusioned working class guy who has drifted to the farright. These are potential recruits if they get despooked. But it is his to oppose us (socialist) and us to oppose him (bourgeois)

I like him and I like the whole "capitalist innovator" narrative, because if they succeed we get cool new shit, and if they don't we get to laugh at pretentious nouveau riche douches

How is communism not the ultimate "the ends justify the means" scenario?

Even if you (impossibly) create a worldwide communist movement, there are going to be a lot of people unwilling to separate with their possessions. People you will absolutely need to keep the the world fed, and metaphorically spinning. Will another Holodomor happen?

Are you still prepared on forcefully taking their property for the greater good because "the end justify the means"?

Guarding your creations and possessions is somewhat of an extension of guarding your own body, how would you feel about porky saying your body doesn't belong to you, it belongs to everyone?

Make him watch Planetes.

Also, the intro of Beyond Earth. You think you'll be leaving? KEK! You're staying behind with the rest of us, bitch!

You can't make capitalism with a human face.
Capitalism needs profit. Profit comes from exploitation. You cannot have capitalism without exploitation.

YES WE ARE!

the greater good

"Their possessions"
You mean the private property that they don't personally use and claim ownership over because of a piece of paper? We're not interested in your fucking television.

Why is this impossible?

Space exploration is well worth the exploitation of the proletariat.

Again missing my point. If you want your communism club to become more powerful, bring more people in. The way to bring more people in is to meet them halfway and find common ground so they can sympathize with your cause. Labeling so-and-so as "the enemy" is just hurting step one and therefore your cause in the long run.

I still don't get communism because it hasn't been presented in a way that's easy to digest for newbies here. If you're so certain it's the cure-all for civilization, it should be easy to illustrate to the public why it's so great, instead of depending on me to read a bunch of obscure books.

You are a massive fucking retard.

fuck off already you stupid faggot

Great job debating. No wonder the revolution is nigh.

This isn't debate club you dumb fucker. You aren't entitled to a cited essay to whatever idiot thing you say.

Choke on your boyfriend's Musky dick.

what does fiscally conservative even mean? If economically liberal is free-marketism then what is fiscally conservative?

Crying about the national debt and supporting austerity measures mostly.

That's a shit answer. I've asked this before and never seen it answered. 'Small state' seems to be about the only consistency. So what, he's a left libertarian? Or is small statism always right wing?

it's an americanism for economic liberal/liberal economics. americans hate liberals so much, and liberal has been made into such a hateful pejorative in that country, that they renamed economic liberalism to better reflect its association with conservatism. also they probably couldn't reconcile the apparent contradiction that conservatives are economic liberals, because liberal is considered the opposite of conservative in that country; it was just too confusing for them.

tl;dr americans are retards

I deeply admire the man. I often think of this quote of his: "If you are not failing, you are not innovating hard enough." I believe he said that after one of his rockets exploded spectacularly on lift-off. This is not a failure. This is what success looks like. I compare it to Wernher von Braun unyielding standards for safety and success. Sure, von Braun got us to the moon. But was he _an innovator_? Woo. Love it. Disruption. Innovation. Love n it.

So another case of the US using words to mean the exact opposite of everyone else? Fair enough.

How about in the rest of the world? Is economic conservative even a thing and if so what's it look like?

i've never heard of it being used outside the u.s.

in yurop liberal still means right-wing

Your analysis of musk would probably make a good Bunkermag article, what do you think?

Didn't you hear? We're living in a simulation. ONE IN BILLIONS THAT WE AREN'T IN ONE.

No need to justify anything when we're in a simulation you see.

You just haven't praxed it out OR you haven't done any of Sam Harris' Officially Approved Thought Experiments® but I will forgive you since regressivism is a disease ;)

Not sure if this is actually serious, but I'd be willing to write it. Just need to compile and go through some sources for info on him.

If you know any articles on Elon that aren't circle-jerking garbage, I'd appreciate them. Specifically I'd like to focus on dismissing his role in technological advancement, along with acknowledging his capitalist/anti-labor mindset.
