The US will be doing very little fighting outside of its borders in a WW3 scenario. It's clear that those who run the US have no intention of keeping the US as a military superpower. All competent generals have been replaced by pseudo-politicians, "muh feels" being introduced into every aspect of military life, women being made equal to men in terms of fighting capability. The US had trouble fielding a military to do Iraq 2.0 as those who were active duty saw multiple tours and reservists being thrown in halfway through. Not to mention the cost of such a small-scale war when compared to the costs of waging a WW3 type conflict for a week, let alone for anything longer.

Russia has no interest in invading the US. The US has an interest in keeping Russia out of the Baltics and interfering with the Middle East. Which means the US has the disadvantage of having to somehow move millions of personnel and plenty of equipment quick enough to counter Russian attacks, not considering any attacks on US infrastructure that would put an end to US military action entirely and send it into FEMA camps mode. In order to stop Russia, we would have to start shipping troops and equipment over tomorrow to prepare for this. Clearly we aren't, so the US has given up on Slavland and possibly Europe in general.

Instead we're going to see another financial stimulus package to save the economy once again and probably another war in the Middle East, whether it's between Syria and Iran or against Saudi Arabia remains to be seen.
