I never gave two shits about Bond since they're literally just action films for self insert wannabe alphas, they're not even that anymore so they can do whatever they want with the character because I never really liked him(/her. ;^))

When he came back he was re-paid a record sum because the contract was gone. So he did only 5 per contract. Same with Craig. They're ready go pay him a fuckton of money for reprisal.
Never say never again doesn't count at all as it's a different studio all together.

They didn't shaft him, Connery didn't want to do it any more. He stopped liking the producers, the films were taking up increasing amounts of his time (which meant he couldn't do other things) and the films themselves were becoming increasingly reliant on special effects (or, as Connery put it 'Too much hardware') so Connery walked. Then he did Diamonds because they paid him a ton for it and that was his last official Bond film.

In all seriousness, as much as I enjoy the Bond films, they're campy schlock at best. Brosnan was the right way to do a more serious tone, and Casino Royale followed it, but the sequels lost that touch and went full Nolan edgy mcgrimdark.

They do have a universe and a long-winded plot, it's just too small and buried all over the main plots to notice on first look
All Bonds represent a moment in their life. Connery was the young agent who build a shitload of fame, Lazenby was the adult agent who thought he was God, Moore was the mid-life crisis agent who acted erraticaly and confused all the time, Dalton was the jaded as fuck old agent agent, Brosnan was just the experienced senior agent at dusk who got injured from everything and just went along.
Brosnan felt too young and reason why tough purists argue Bond died at LTK in a very controversial sequence, but that's just headcanon to justify Brosnan, and nobody expected LTK to be the last one in that administration
Personally i think the 15-movie theory is cool enough to leave it at that

Asian at least makes sense for a spy: He'd have a snowball's chance in hell of staying under the radar in places you'd expect the British to have spies (North Korea, China ect.) and by pretending to not be a native he could explain his cover having less of a paper trail/internet presence ("If you search for "占士邦" you'll find plenty").
