K-On has no plot and it's one of the most popular series of all time. Love Live's plot is very basic. Girls und Panzer is a straightforward underdog sports story with no special plot to it (the very successful movie sequel essentially recycles the plot of the series and it doesn't really matter).

They do produce them, but not nearly as much as people think.
