I have never understood how this show (and Doug TenNapel even allowed it to) became so wildly different from it's original source material, a dark violent comic (called GEAR) involving a violent animal war with giant robots.

I mean if your gonna change something so much from it's original source material, why even bother adapting it? (Unless you really, REALLY need the money).
