Books, tales, myths, stories, etc. you'd like to see made into an animated film.
Pic slightly related. Western European folk tales always seem like top candidates to get cartoons, but rarely have I known something to be based off Eastern or Russian folk tales.
I've always wanted Disney to make a movie based on Russian fairytales.
I mean hell, they're making movies about Scandinavians and Pacific Islanders now, why not Slavistan?
Josiah Myers
Because Americans think that Russian fairytales are hyper ultra grimdark, even though they are as dark as all other fairytales which means that they were originally pretty fucking dark, but were then edited to be more kid-friendly.
Leo Rivera
I could say something other than porn but I figure you'll just see right through that anyway
Evan Hughes
I was going to make a post pointing out that the underdark in DnD (a lightless underground spider hell with nigger elves in it) is based of some russian shit but then I could not find a source for this FUCKING ANYWHERE! I swear to god I read that somewhere, if anyone can confirm or deny this is really bugging me.
also OP I want an anime about en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cú_Chulainn this nigger is irish hercules or something, and he goes into a nightmarish berserker rage that gets translated as FUCKING WARPSPASMS! it took 3 barrels of water to cool his head when he got angry because the first one exploded and evaporated instantly before it got too close, the second one didnt leave him wet he was so hot, and the third finally cooled him down and brought him t his senses.
Juan Wood
Ah, yes This is the tale that inspired 2000Ad's Slaine
David Stewart
I'd love to see a an animated film that has the style and writing of Mœbius. If Alejandro Jodorowsky were the director, I'll pay full price for it.
Nathan Moore
that sounds awesome fam.
Brayden Robinson
You know I kind of want to see a movie that does the whole story of Maui. I know Moana is kind of doing this already but they'll neuter it a bit since its Disney. I just wish we could see a full on Maui movie that shows his life and crazy adventures. That and maybe an anthology of Polynesian myths, that could be interesting. With each myth taking place from a certain island.
Chase Harris
I think Miyazaki's designs were inspired by him.
Leo Morris
You know i can see a bit of nausicaa in the 1st pic.
Jace Murphy
I guess I'd like to see some animated Lovecraft stories.
Cooper Gonzalez
I can't think of anything spider-related in Russian folklore. Either you remember it wrong, or DnD authors used favorite American method of researching anything Russian - "Just make shit up".
As for niggers and spiders, the only thing that comes to my mind is Anansi.
Kayden Ward
Lev Atamanov, search for animated films under that name.
Cooper Roberts
To be fair, it's his only work that is based on Russian folk tale.
Austin Roberts
There's a movie called Time Masters which Moebius did with Rene Laloux if you're interested.
Miyazaki was influenced by Moebius' Arzach at first. Most of the 80s sci fi and fantasy productions from Japan were heavily influenced by european authors, actually.
Jace Green
That looks scary as fuck my man.
Jeremiah Lewis
Damn, I need to get on watching René Laloux's films, especially Fantastic Planet.
Luke Allen
thanks for this recommendation user.
Carson Jones
Monster Hunter International
Benjamin Richardson
didn't you post that on /k/? Also, good idea user.
Luis Walker
I know nothing about /k/ related stuff. Why is that thing wrong in particular besides being fucking ugly?
Noah Gonzalez
It's not. It's stupidly heavy, clumbsome and will eat through ammo near instantly, but those are all traits of it in the book where it's wielded by this huge wall of muscle.
I just really like that picture.
Josiah Turner
I'd honestly like to see some of the celtic or druidic myths. Some of them make Lovecraft look like an optimist.
Andrew Ortiz
Not much on the writing, but Dragon's Heaven was massively inspired by the artstyle of Moebius.
Jaxson Sanchez
I've always hopped for an animated Ringworld series.
As far as mythology the Kavevala would be pretty neat.
Logan Sanders
...
Noah White
Fantastic Planet is all over the place though. It starts reeeeallyyy sloooow and it ends really fast. It's more of an "art piece" than an actual movie, like a real sci fi BD in movie format.
