Not the hardware but I do use the software. I love my hackintosh. OSX has all that BSD Unix like goodness with decent software compatibility. I dual boot Windows 7 for my vidya. On my laptop I dual boot Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu Gnome.

I don't get why people hate Gnome. It's UI works fantastic on smaller screens like laptops. I only use Windows for videogames and I've removed most of the botnet crap from updates and settings. If AMD cards had better support in Linux I wouldn't bother.

The gnome devs are a bunch of corporate whores whose maintenance comes exclusively from RedHat sperm.
They are the Frontend to RedHats campaign to take over the linux ecosystem as much as systemd is their back-end.

On top of that they treat their users, that is not the ones ordering them form RedHat,with utter contempt, and only after RedHat extended a slapping around after their massive PR catastrophe did they settle down to revisit their glorious design for something a human being can use.Fuck those people.

When confronted wit the fact that they kept breaking the theme system every other week, for no good reason…They argue that users are LUCKY they even DEBASE themselves to allowing themes in GTK/Gnome because they feel they negatively influence their "brand presence".

Furthermore, when the implication that gnome and GTK are not one and the same gets questioned, their answer was that they are in fact the same and any
third party applications that do not join the gnome project are not supported/on their own.Hell, they even gave a " you are with us or against us" answer after the unreasonable proposition of only gnome applications using GTK.

Oh I had no idea. I just liked the keyboard shortcuts and window management better than the other desktops. I'll switch to XFCE or Mate then. I only recently made the switch anyway. I was using Linux Mint with Cinnamon until that security breach a few months ago. I really miss the update manger.

Ubuntu has been through a hell of a rough ride, but I think 16.04 is worth checking out. They finally removed the adware (while making it reinstallable for some reason) and made Unity's dock thing mountable on the bottom.

One of the easy distros like Ubuntu or Manjaro takes like 30 minutes to install and then another 30 to figure out how it works.

This is not true as well. There's just less support. Not every GPU from any obscure maker on the market is supported, mostly the most common ones are.
If you're using Slackware maybe. The only time I've found lack of compatibility in my 10 years of using Libre systems is when I'm trying to run an obscure distro on weird hardware. Ubuntu and it's variants will run on anything common.

I don't actually expect anyone who feels like they might lose out to use linux or libre software in general.
I do think it's valuable to support libre software, however . The more options that exist as an alternative to propreitary bullshit, the better.
