Torrenting is becoming increasingly hard to do thanks to honeypots.
While deleting the torrent pages is retarded, bugging the torrents with surveillance ips seems to be super effective.

That said.. things are changing. More things are being made for free. People in tech are playing the game of life more.

If they aren't they deserve to be part of the botnet

Torrenting is pretty pointless for music and games now that steam practically gives games away and spotify has a huge chunk of new music. A lot of decent software is open sores.

The only thing that's being actively pirated are movies and some tv shows.

I do use sickbeard, what are the benefits of sickrage? I've searched but no clear answer

I'm thinking torrent clients need to start developing some kind of ability to detect these IPs by monitoring IPs that never contribute, but only snoop and add them to a black list.

Hey man hows the normie life treatin ya?

I just remember things

posting mine

Fuck yeah, another Solus user. Don't see many people using it since it's still quite unknown distro.

The first distro I used that everything just works out of the box. There is still room for many improvements though.

- better alt tab
- better workspace management
- hot corners
- fix menu popup bug
- packinging projects that require keys for compiling & distributing (Chromium, JetBrains Community IDEs...)

What makes solus good besides for the budgie DE? Their website doesnt explain much

Basically it is rolling release that is without any potential breakage. It works that they update in waves so you always have relatively new packages. They only package software that is maintained and has recent releases. The package manager is insanely fast and easy to use.

Distro as a whole is extremely easy to use, with sane defaults (Arc Darker GTK theme and icons, breeze cursors) and simple software (GNOME 3 applications).

All packages are compiled with optimizations for 64 bit CPUs.

The only distro where the Software center is not actual cluster fuck.

There are 1 click installs for third party proprietary software like SublimeText, Skype Web client, JetBrains commercial IDEs, Flash, Spotify, Slack...

They are targeting to be stateless distro, more info at Clear Linux project by Intel.

Many cool projects are made by Solus team, like Steam integration which enables you to use native libraries instead of Steam ones, by just flipping a switch.

A nice utility for driver management (not just for GPU drivers) that actually works great.

Solus is really bad at being a general distro, but really good at desktop distro.

Forgot to add a picture.

Oh, so it's meant to be an ubuntu competitor that looks like OSX

It is targeted at desktop users so it does compete with Ubuntu. In my opinion is nothing like MacOS, the headerbars are GNOME invention that Apple kinda ripped off.

Even though it uses GNOME 3 applications it is written from scratch. The only GNOME stack beside GTK+ is Mutter (not sure), which is getting replaced.

They patch things to integrate nicely. Example in the picture is Rhytembox.

This is how Rhythembox normally looks.

9K+nH in Pinta.

I just installed Solus on my X220. It really is beautiful and light. The installation program was easy to use but quite barebones. On my desktop I've been using Gentoo for quite a while and love it. I just happen to be too lazy to setup distcc to build packages for my laptop so I'm looking for nice binary distros.

Rhythmbox is the only player on Linux I can trust to actually sync music to my phone, MTP or not. Without MTP, you just mount a directory as a fuse bindfs and touch .is_audio_player, then use something like syncthing or rsync.

You check out Void yet?

Android is based on the Linux kernel, just like Slackware, Debian, Gentoo, Fedora, or Suse, or any other Linux. Android uses a different userspace based on Java. That means that Android is not Linux/Gnu. But it's still Linux.

Sickbeard is not actively developed anymore, Sickrage is a more popular fork, although it could be much better.

No idea what text is supposed to mean either. Idk if you want to hear something fancy, but I just use normal build in notepad. Was going to put Metal and Deep House into music, but I wasn't able to find good pictures that represent those genres. And I don't really make any backups, non of my hard drives ever died and I doubt they will anytime soon. My main hdd is 6 years old and it's running pretty fine.

Well I hope there is none, but since there are many Holla Forumsidya Windows people lurking here I wouldn't be surprised.

In my opinion it is important to actually help these people with expending their knowledge (even if their questions are retarded), since elitism doesn't accomplish much other than ego stroking.

I don't understand why people don't want to backup.

Backup doesn't need to be perfect. Even the most simple backup solution is better than no backup.

1. if on Windows create a new directory and put all your files in it.
2. Buy a cheap 1TB external hard drive
3. Once a week copy all your files to the external hard drive inside a directory named as date. Example: hostname_160115

When you run out of space, simple delete the oldest backup.

This is far from perfect, but even doing as simple thing as this can save you so much trouble.

Looks great!

Nice setup.

I don't actually use KDE on windows, like I said, it just doesn't work that well at all.

The only purpose is it was the old answer to getting KDE software on windows, they abandoned the full plasma desktop on windows, and instead they are now working on just getting the applications working on windows.

To even set a wallpaper you have to drag pictures onto the desktop (Figured that out with guess work), the file manager has to be restarted every time there is a change, like moving files, making new folders, anything, it always needs to be restarted. It's just not worth it.

Looks really cool!

What's so great about this?

You are correct. It's absolute shit.

Spent hours trying to get decent results with mpv but was never convinced and I use a 1440p monitor so scaling kind of important.
Same issue with the sound card, there are ALSA drivers and it works but of course none of the proprietary virtual surround drivers are there and I use those half the time for non hi-fi stuff.

...

liked the gif

if only users would separate their programs as well as developers do, we could avoid all the bloated crap that is mainstream software.

you have a perfectly well designed audio player, with great features that organizes your music and radiostations, maybe it's even a modular plugin design.

then a jerk developer comes by and say, why don't we do video too, and then the shit goes to bloat hell.

he might even rewrite the shit from c to an interpreted language, rust or go because it's the "next big thing".

shit now takes up 20+ mb instead of 500kb and runs like shit.
