What went wrong?

What went wrong?

literally nothing, the film is great

What a great thread.
What was your favourite post in this thread?
Mine was

It got bad reviews.

It was a financial flop.

They underplayed it's connection to Twin Peaks.

All the signs of actual greatness

Then Fire Walk With Me is Lynch's best film.

...

It was convoluted for the sake of being convoluted.

The fucking storytelling is a mess.

Lynch is trying to put his dreams on film, dreams have meaning but they aren't very clear.

How does the ending work? Because unless it implies the whole movie is a loop, which wouldn't work, it doesn't make sense.

…..what

nobody is falling for your tricks, satan

Who wore it better, Lynch or Argento?

Fred, the main character, goes to his house and says into the intercom "Dick Laurent is dead". The start of the movie has the very same Fred wake up and listen to the intercom say "Dick Laurent is dead", but it doesn't make sense if the director wanted the ending and the start of the movie to happen at the same time storywise.

There is no time travel. The whole movie is a blend of reality and Fred's/Pete's escape into his fantasy before his death, so that he can cope with the murders he committed. His wife cheats on him, he finds out, kills her, and maybe also her lover. He is put on a death row. The first part of the film is him trying to remember what happened. He can't accept the reality of it so in the second part, he creates an alter ego in his mind, and imagines that his wife is a pure damsel in distress, whom he has to save from her lover who is a ruthless gangster in his fantasy. But he can't completely escape the reality, and the fact that his wife was a cheating whore, who has also probably done some porn comes back to him. He is forced to accept it, kills her lover and announces it to himself. The last scene right before the end credits is him dying on an electric chair.

Nothing went wrong. It has nice visuals, and interesting story. This together with Wild at Heart is my second favorite after Blue Velvet.

wild at heart was shit

You are shit.

Lost Highway is part of the Twin Peaks continuity, the bald guy is one of those aliens/demons/whatever like Bob, he was controlling Bill Pullman like Leland was being controlled. It's confusing because we see it from his perspective and he's unwittingly being controlled by the alien in habiting him.

you aren't smart enough to get it.

balding

note that Mystery Man also says that Pullman invited him and that no one else can see him.

i've never seen twin peaks
should i?

season 1

fire walk with me

yes.

Yup.
