Calm the fuck down

If you're a real libertarian, then you're already a comrade. If you're an American "Libertarian" (propertarian), then you likely need reading to do. Are you serious?

Yes I am.

I just realized that private interests of the rich aren't compatible with mine, and their profits aren't a good thing for the entire community

Good. You need to realize that the capitalists are today's aristocrats and that their interests are not the same as the interests of the proletarian.

Just start by learning what socialism is and isn't.

M8 u don't wanna turn the user into a revisionist market socialist, do you?

how is lefty formed
how ideology get changed

Daily reminder that the so called 'free market' are the ones that want le big gubbermand' the most.

Free people, not 'free markets' fam. I'm glad more people are figuring this out.

We really could benefit from shorter videos to explain this stuff. Still good choice tho.

What about open-source codes? How does it enter in a leftist POV?

Fuck M$

...

Since free software relies on the rule of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", we can say that's in fact a digital version of communism.

What questions do you have about leftism comrade? We can answer them.

RDW is still one of the best voices of socialism in the US

Hi user, fellow former lolbertarian here, glad you want to learn about leftism! What general knowledge are you coming from and what specifically do you want to learn more about?

I know, I'm stupid, but I've been brainwashed for 20 years like that

Basically everything. I just can't believe the whole marxist theory is just an old, lazy guy who wanted free stuff from the governement

Orwell himself was a socialist actually.

Also, as you may have noticed, english isn't my mother language

and you guys sound way more intellectual than Holla Forums, I just feel like people with right-wing tendencies are unable to see life in a macrosocioeconomic sense

...

I dont like to shill my channel that often I totally do but you could find out a lot from my communist theory and Leninist basics play lists. Of course this only goes over Leninism, and dosnt touch on anarchism, but it will still give you a look into one side of leftism:

For starters, I reccomend you four books in the following order

All of thee are entry level books, written to be clear and easy to understand, but at the same time they touch deep and important questions. Most of these books were written for the workers of the XIX and XX century to learn, so a person like you wont have a problem with them.

You can find them free on the internet in a lot of pages, from PDF files to whatever kind of format you can imagine.

Already read, and it's actually amazing how up to date it is.

when i first started i always loved this
youtube.com/watch?v=nHI-kFv8VBY

I really like when conservatives and reactonaries in general talk shit about the commiefesto, because it shows how little they know what they are talking about.

:^)

Utopian and Scientific are different kinds of socialism, right?

i always loved the idea that communism was not Utopian and there ways of having a more perfect system but as of then people just didnt know what it would look like

One (1)

...

You should start wi-

Oh, someone's already on it.

Wtf are you talking about? There are 9 vids there.

somewhat more intellectual than Holla Forums

many of our philosophyfags have left and there are lots of people here that are really weak on theory

making a playlist, links for me?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the the communist manifesto

Das kapital has more actual theory in it than the manifesto so read that instead

Fuck off soviet fetishist.

Don't read Capital. It's fucking huge, theoretically impenetrable at parts, and not necessary reading to get to even a moderately sophisticated grasp of leftist thought. All of the other Marx recommendations in this thread are good though, and his early philosophical writings are invaluable in getting to understand exploitation, alienation, class struggle, etc.

Wolff is a straight up revisionist socdem. He spoke with my econ class a week ago and couldn't articulate any sort of revolutionary strategy beyond "Bernie Sanders".

American individualist anarchism could be a good starting point if you're still somewhat convinced of the free market working. Check out Benjamin Tucker and Lysander Spooner.
Liberturds and "anarcho"-capitalists actually take a lot of influence from them and love to appropriate their ideas to make them seem pro-capitalist.

Confirmed for being a pretentious idiot that hasnt even tried to read it. That book is no joke, even the antology, which is a short version with the basics of the work, is dry and complicated as fuck.

It isnt a book for newcomers, that book is a fucking theoretical monster. You should only try it if you have a good theorical base and a good reading habit.

kek, nope

market socialist =/= socdem. he even talks about how far to the left he is of sanders.

...

m8 chill. Im not a stalinist, ok

Except that it doesn't talk about what communism is, nor does it contain any serious theory. It's just practice on getting workers organized to fight for some basic rights.

And Sanders calls himself a socialist. You can talk until you're blue in the face about your supposed politics but when it comes down to it, he's not even kind of radical. There are worker co-ops all over the US, and by and large their employees are standard capitalists.

talk is cheap?

read your fucking theory and then come back to post later

That doesn't mean its not an important pillar in left literature? What a weird condemnation. It's easy and provides all the beginning building blocks you need to start building a lefty literature arsenal.

They themselves are obviously not bourgs but they're not advocating for the socialist takedown of all workplaces or peoples' revolution. It's not really that radical and doesn't bleed into a larger political impetus.

feels good man

No shit, a co-op is an organization of production, not a political ideology.

It reenforces the idea that a welfare state and women's rights are socialism. That's why it appeals so much to liberals.

This is fucking awesome. Thanks user.

This is exactly my point, Wolff endorses worker ownership and pretty much nothing else in any meaningful sense. The fact that he's pro Bernie and thinks he's going to trigger revolutionary action alone is evidence to that.

Please tell me what version of the Manifesto you're reading.

">i'm just going to assume he claimed that without attempting to justify it at all"

not enough information

You're conflating market socialism as an ideology with co-ops as a practice. Replacing all the corporations in the world with worker enterprises WOULD destroy capitalism. What is left may not look like your centralist paradise, but it would look nothing like capitalism.

He thinks Bernie is an important ideological victory. Call him naive if you want.

I'm saying he actually gave reasons for why market socialism is not equivalent to social democracy, if that wasn't already apparent.

I wasn't talking about vids, kiddo

It's a historical curiosity, nothing more. It's completely irrelevant to modern Marxism. It's a set of transitionary demands for the 1848 revolution. It's perception as a significant work is part of where the massive misconceptions of what Communism is come from (muh 10 planks meme).

Well what were you referring to then

Just watch vids explaining DasKap such as those by Wolff

...

I think you know what I mean, my lad.

Oh yea I get it.

Fuck you.

thanks, I love you guys

A very simple, fairly unbiased and satisfactory introduction to Marx.

women's rights are socialism you fucking retard

Why did they leave and where did they go?

It's an important piece of leftist literature best analyzed after someone has a general grounding in leftism, otherwise it can very easily color someone's viewpoint. It's not exactly uncommon for people to make very bad anti-communist arguments using it (the ten planks come to mind readily)

Eh. I think its good reading for beginners who are already kind of sold on the legitimacy of radical left thought, but I can agree on it potentially turning more thoroughly classcuked readers far right because of their impulse to always violently shout down socialism and create strawmans.

I flipped open volume 3 in my college library a couple times, surprisingly found a good description of what caused stagflation in the 70's.

READ THE MANGO!
It's all there.

(It also describes the 2008 crisis. Strange how it perdicts the future, right?)

Here.
Have the mango, since I'm sure capitalism doesn't let you view it on mangafox

They left because the arguing here became really tedious, primarily consisting of:
refuting idiot pollacks and their dumb misconceptions
retreading ancient arguments between leftist tendencies
and
occasionally having a thread where more than one other person read the same ancient philosopher that they had

and so since they weren't here for "le dank memes" they left over time, probably going back to their books or 4chan's /lit/ since that's where many of them came from anyway

sometimes you'll spot a rare theoryfag in the wild though. cherish the moment, because it's magical.

4chan /lit/ has become hell, but this is a more comfortable hell. I can't imagine even looking at /lit/ for too long anymore because of how much Holla Forums"common sense" has pervaded the board. They even think EM Cioran and Nietzsche were right-wing…
/lit/ just makes me want to die now.

the bell curve or what?

Hm? What are you asking?
Most people who argue that the Bell Curve theory supports heredity of IQ through race alone instead of socioeconomic status haven't actually read the book, or the author's concessions that the extent to which nature or nurturing takes precedence on a subject is largely conjecture on both parts and historically illiterate.

Fuck, that was a long run on sentence.
I'm going to bed.

You need to lay your workist ideology to rest without replacing it with another workist ideology, comrade.

Talking about books without actually doing anything gets old eventually. Intellectual masturbation is far less fun than actual masturbation. We really need to actually do something genuinely fun at this point. We could perhaps stop taking ourselves so seriously and make asses of ourselves in pubic, or we could shit on someone else's party.

this might help

Are you the guy who came to dubtrack?

he doesn't have only one testicle, what makes you think that ? You don't even know him.

well, this sure makes more sense than "blame the jews"

They haven't all left but I think a lot of them just don't bring it up much anymore because there's not much point trying to argue philosophy with people whose entire argument consists of pointing at a racial IQ graph.
