Have you heard Shinigami used in other contexts? I don't really know the whole mythology behind it but they're in other animes (Bleach and Deathnote off the top of my head) but I guess it's kind of a Japanese folk thing. In Soul Eater it's just DtK and Shinigami-san but the word generally implies there are others. Kind of like grim-reapers but without a really defined mythos, I think they predate Buddhism in Japan.
I remember the sentence you're referring to and it is kind of misleading. I think the sentence was constructed that way to be consistent with the more general use of it outside of SE (sounding like there are more) but not necessarily to contradict what's going on in SE which is that there are the two.

The anime showed her with wings in a couple shots when they were just showing her soul. I think they were coming out of her back before the fight against Free and the second fight with Crona.
I kind of like all of her outfits but the black blood dress is probably my favorite.

Blackstar is kind of pointlessly overpowered.
But I think what you're meant to get from Crona is more that he's getting more crazy (and more difficult to reason with, as he forgets things). There's a learning curve with how he fights with the clown which he's still at the beginning of but as he meshes with the clown it will also change his behavior.
He probably should have made it a more competitive fight but on Crona's end it's really to set things up for later.

I got it all from the same torrent but it's apparently slapped together from a few different sources. I've seen torrents of "official" english versions but they were pdfs so I would've had to turn them all into jpegs or pngs manually to post them which would take way longer than just dragging and dropping stuff that's the right filetype.

The ending to the anime is pretty bad, the first 3/4 is pretty close to the manga. The thing about the anime is that it takes a little bit to get over the initial concept because it's pretty ridiculous, then it gets better and then when it's getting good they really mess up the ending. The manga gets probably doesn't pick up as fast as the anime but has a lot more content and a way stronger finish.
It's better with subs without a doubt but the voice actors in the english version are bearable for the most part. If you like to binge-watch and do something else while you watch then the dubs are alright but not recommended.

The only person that came up with M for Medusa was when Kid went to check out the book and assumed it was Medusa, because obviously he had no reason to think Maka would check it out.
It's kind of unfortunate that there's not more revealed about Shinigami's old crew.

I dislike it because it makes Giriko a pretty pointless character after being around for multiple arcs. It's just kind of short-sighted to me because he makes a character who powers up because he's mad because Maka beats arachne, then makes him apparently have the upper hand in a fight with Maka in a setting with weird conditions (Sloth in Eibons book) and then makes him die from a reason that was previously unexplained (though it's not inconsistent with what's been explained before). And then Maka wins by trolling which doesn't really add anything to her as a character.
It's not that it breaks anything established, but it's a pointless deviation to me. It almost would've been better off to bench Maka for an arc if there's nothing more significant for her to do.

If she's saved twice in the same scene from the same enemy she wasn't really "made safe" in the first place.

I checked it out just because it's cannon and it's not really that good, I think the japanese one might be nicer but all I found was a cheap bootleg english.
I don't know if you noticed them advertised on some of the other chapters but there were also a few audio cds that were packaged with shonen that were cannon. I've read transcripts of them and they were kind of like fanfiction except official.
In one of them Maka and Soul are under the influence of a love potion, but what is confirmed based on the conclusion is that they're absolutely platonic. That was about the only takeaway that I had from them.
I have them on another harddrive I'll post it all when I'm done with the manga. Those things plus Not are pretty much everything by Atsushi in the universe.

Nope, the first pipe attack which I'm taking about came from the ship captain which was a crushing attack with pipes meant to kill her as you can see in image 1 and 2. The dutchman even says "on the first try" and "how easy" which would mean the attacks were meant to kill. Well if you think about it in point 3/4 she needed to be saved twice. Without both of the saves she would of died. If soul didn't take the blow then maka would be dead since stein and spirit would have arrived too late.If stein and spirit didn't come then crona would of just finished maka after he slashed soul. Without both events included then maka would die.
Soul taking a killing blow isn't saving? Stein and spirit coming to the rescue isn't saving? Even if it's momentary saving its still saving her life because she would be dead without that momentary save.

Ok, the Blair one is well argued. I think her being unable to use witch-hunter because she's surprised was circumstantial but I clearly can't refute it.
Since it's your list I won't argue with your definition of "save" even though to me it's not intuitive when there's no actual safety involved.
But I'll argue one more point- that Maka would have died if Soul had not stepped in. If anything Maka would have been hurt less than Soul was, and almost definitely not fatally.
It as a slashing attack so being farther away from Crona would have meant that Ragnarok wouldn't have stabbed as deeply into Maka as it did Soul, which still wasn't fatal. Since Maka was already against the door Soul turning into a human in front of her would have put him Maka's width (even if it's not much) closer to Crona, making the cut worse. If you're indifferent to who receives damage then the "right" thing to do would've been to let Maka get slashed. Soul jumped in and took more damage than Maka would have because he felt obligated to as a weapon.

I remember during the kishin revival arc stein said the weapons should always stay in weapon form. It's kinda odd that they don't do the same here since they would be better prepared for a fight or a surprise attack.

Especially if the plan was for them to come piling out of the book, that would've helped. It's hard to know what they didn't know though; they might've even thought they could take Noah before the kids came out (seems like a stretch).

This arc is definitely starting to get much better. I kinda expected more from the 7 chapters of sin though. Lust and gluttony were the best chapters, wrath and pride were good because of Excalibur but the rest kinda sucked.

Kagura was the only reason I started to watch the show but the entire thing is pretty great. I didn't like gintoki,katsura, or any of the shinsengumi at first but after a couple episodes I really started to like them. It's pretty hilarious overall and I can't think of a character I don't like.

Yeah the whole show is great, the only character that falls flat for me is Shinpachi but he plays his role fine.
Hasegawa is probably my favorite other than Kagura, Hijikata and Zura are great to.

Yeah that barely looks like her. My kagura folder isn't very well sorted either, it's my only hand collected anime folder that isn't sorted by numbers. I might sort it out one day but it would be a hassle to do.

Keeping anime pictures organized is a chore. Most things I keep organized by source but things that I clip I just keep organized by show (with separate folders for Kagura and Maka than the rest of their shows) and then the filenames keep them organized by date.
I tried to do a combined folder with descriptive names but ended up not really using it for some reason.

I wish I paid more attention to Kyubei when she first appeared because she also makes some good expressions even if she's more subtle and not as versatile as Kagura.

The woman that crushed on Stein that I was thinking of wasn't Medusa. Medusa's name is unforgettable to me due to the fact that I've been exposed to characters named "Medusa" in both PowerPuff Girls and God of War that have snake or snake-like hair. Medusa's ability to manipulate snake-like vectors fits the theme neatly enough. I was actually referring to another woman. IIRC, she was assigned to live with Stein because her very presence keeps Stein mentally stable. Stein was infected with madness, you see? I think there were chapters where Stein hallucinated Medusa and had conversations with her. I think Stein saw himself s being in a graveyard at Juan point and I recall Medusa (I didn't even know I had these memories) telling Stein things like "I know you too feel that this world is pointless so join me". There was a woman. I think she had an eyepatch. She wore a long dress and I believe she had blonde hair in the anime. There's definitely a gag scene where she delivers a Street Fighter 4-style Shin-Shoryuken (with the jaw-crush) onto Stein.

The scene in the graveyard was a few arcs ago, if you recall there was a guy that they brought in for internal affairs, Joe, and then he was murdered and everyJuan thought Stein did it. Then he and Marie left to figure out who actually did it- Sid (the zombie), Nygus (his partner) and Spirit (Maka's dad) were also there. I don't clearly remember the scene where she punched him.
I think Excalibur being important becomes apparent just because he's in Eibon's book and Noah only collects really important things. Crona poster correctly guessed about him based on something or other but I forgot exactly.

The real reason I stopped watching Not was cause cuteness overload and risk to my health. It was during the cafe maid scene near the end of episode 2 where the cutness levels rose to critical levels and my heart was about to burst and my brain started to fry. Thankfully I was able to open my maka folder to bring down the cute levels to sub average level.

I really like this scene, one of my favorite crona scenes. It's way better than having an arc for shibusen to kill Medusa. Plus it kind of separates crona a character that could be redeemed and crona the badass villain for me.

From what she said to stein I got the impression that she thought she would live to see Kishin take over the world. So I don't know if she wanted to die, but I guess as far as ways to go this would be pretty good for her.

I'm confused to what her plan is though. Without her telling Crona what to do he would probably just find some hole to hide in or the madness envelops him and he starts going on a murder rampage until shibusen stops him.

It also makes me wonder if she is really dead since I see no reason for her to throw her life away just to complete the black blood. She seems smart enough to make some sort of body double to trick Crona into thinking he actually killed her.

I made this in honor of Crona and since there was a little Crona scene today I'll post it.

I kek'd, especially when he hits the dead baby. Excellent concept.
What software did you use and how many hours have you spent fiddling? Also it hard to do stuff like Crona flying by Tsugumi? Did you have to like cut out Tsugumi and make it 2 layers?

The first half of the video isn't an original idea (except when he whacks the kid). I've seen it done 2 other times and my favorite one was when a lady wearing a hijab walks through different images of muslim attacks.

I did it all on sony vegas but I saw an easier way to animate on after affects but I figured I might as well learn to do it on this program first. It was about 2 hours everyday for 3 days since I'm a newbie and even simple stuff like this turns out to be hard.

Figuring out how to do keyframe animation was hard at first but after moving Crona through all the previous scenes the Tsugumi stuff turned out to be really simple.

Tsugumi was on one track but I had multiple tracks for Crona. I didn't need to mask anything but I looked up masking during the process of making this and masking moving objects seems really annoying to do.

Overall It was pretty fun to make and It was neat learning how to do this stuff.

I'd imagine that it's a pretty steep learning curve but I guess you figure out a lot of stuff doing projects like that.

I'm trying to understand that little bit there regarding Soul's feelings towards Maka– more specifically, the accusation made by Wes.

Is Soul being accused of trying to be with Maka (romantically) because he (supposedly) feels that she's what's actually on his level? I suppose Soul's blush in the third image makes sense if we assume romance rather than mere embarassment.
