I think you misunderstand how astronomical images are processed. They aren't just normal cameras strapped to a rocket. There is substantial post-processing required for every image to turn it from analytically useful to visually useful. And they aren't just JPGs or something; they use specialized formats that contain a lot more information than standard images (e.g. I use FITS files for my research). It isn't just a matter of slapping a filter on it. And then you have to deal with the fact that cameras are not eyes, and it is nontrivial to balance the image to what we would see. Take a look at spectral band response curves.
And if you seriously think the image would get changed by someone walking around and flicking switches on the monitors displaying it I don't know what to tell you.

When was the last time you looked at images from the surface, anyway? We've gotten better at these things since 1975.

This could be fraud. In the 19th century most of research was faulty and there were conmen everywhere. Dinosaurs and fossiles were used to promote evolutionary narrative of history. How do we even know that the outside is real? I mean, if doors can be opened, and the whole world is the same room, why can't I see you? Shouldn't the room have everyone inside it? If the Earth is flat, then light would be reflected off of the surface in a non-uniform amount, so our eyes might not pick up you being in my room for that reason. If the Earth were round, light would be reflected off the atmosphere the in same same amount and it would eventually end up in your eyes, therefore you should be able to see the whole planet from where you're standing.
