I read this man's appeal, I agree with the courts, it's a foregone conclusion CP is on the drive.

He wasn't imprisoned, but months later at at a family gathering he let his older sister use his phone and she found suggestive pictures of her daughter on it. The cops came and arrested him then.
His sister was living with him, she initially covered for him but after the iphone incident she claimed he showed her CP. In his appeal he claimed it was because he kicked out her out.
He's still a pedophile, and a predator at that.

1) Police argued that there is no legitimate reason to use Freenet
2) They did several knock and talks based on Freenet usage alone
3) Intentionally or accidentally mislead judges for warrants. Claimed 95% probability of request originators based on flawed HTL (hops-to-live) statistics. In reality it's less than 5%.
4) Freenet forces you to store and relay random content
Even if you are not doing anything illegal, you have a high chance of being raided or accused of distributing child porn.

Look up Freenet Black Ice Project, read the leaked PDF. They basically get the splitfiles of every public file on freenet then insert many nodes that log peers. If your IP is relaying an illegal file with an HTL of 18 or 17, they tell the courts it's certain the IP is the original requester. A quick look at the HTL code in freenet shows that "in reality, the false positive rate of their method is at least 83%, and close to 100% in real world scenarios."

He's not being jailed for being a pedophile or for possessing lewd images of children. He's being jailed for refusing to decrypt data.
Anyone can be accused of having encrypted illegal data and be placed in the same position, thus put in prison for life if the data in fact is not encrypted data. The courts could determine that OP's image contains a hidden encrypted image of baby rape and everyone who saves the image should be imprisoned for contempt of court until they decrypt it.
To sum it up, the right man was imprisoned for the wrong reasons, and this could affect people like us if the government changes hands.
